Dear diary,
Supper went smoothly.
Unlike breakfast, there was a lot more conversation between the three of us.
Finneas was very funny and made jokes about how Billie would always do the weirdest things as a child, like kiss frogs to see if they'll turn into humans.
I laughed hysterically as he continued with stories of them as children but Billie had a sour face the entire time, twirling a knife in her hand while tapping the sharp end of it against her finger.
"Are you alright Billie?" Jen questioned as she walked over toward us, our drinks balanced on a silver tray.
Billie's face softened and she smiled.
"Yes, I'm okay. Just lost in thought." She assured her while placing the knife down.
Jen smiled at her response and as she got closer to the table she lost her balance on her heels and fell forward, our drinks flying and landing on Billie, the expensive white wine soaking into her dress.
Finneas did not dare to hold back his loud laugh as he clapped hysterically, turning red much like how he did this morning.
Billie giggled a little bit as well but her face was red from embarrassment.
Jen stood up quickly and apologized as she tried to help clean Billie up with the shakiest hands.
"I'll take care of her." I insisted before standing up and helping her out of her seat.
"I should do it. I'll get her clean clothes." Jen panicked but I gave her a reassuring smile and waved her off.
"Just clean the broken glass and be careful, I'll make sure Billie is dry again. Finneas, please help yourself to whatever it is that you desire. " I stated before helping the girl drenched in wine out of her seat.
As we made our way to my chambers, Billies dress left a trail of liquid behind her and her heels made a squelching sound every step she took.
I couldn't help but to giggle at her audible reactions toward the sound.
"This sounds disgusting."
"What does the sound remind you of?" I questioned.
She remained silent.
"I don't think I want to know anymore." I giggled, stoping once we reached the double doors that led to my room.
"I don't want to wear another dress." She pleaded, looking at me with begging eyes.
"No worries, I always keep my promises." I assured her before opening the doors.
She walked in and let out a gasp.
"Pink." Was all she said as she acknowledged the theme of the atmosphere.
"My favorite alongside lavender." I added on while walking over to a stack of white boxes, topped off with silk bows.
"What are those?" She questioned.
"These are for you. A gift." I smiled and sat on my bed. "Open them."
She did not hesitate.
With every box she opened, she pulled out luxurious articles of clothing made from silk, velvet, wool, cashmere and more.
"Good Heavens." She breathed out once all the clothes were unboxed.
"I sent my other maids out into the village earlier to gather the most exquisite clothing made for men, just for you." I blushed and studied her eyes as they scanned the opulent material, her fingers grazing over them.
"Why?" She asked before she looked at me with glassy eyes.
"Because I believe that you shouldn't be forced to do something you don't want to do, even if that something is as small as what you put on everyday." I answered.
She stood up and pulled me into her embrace.
A hug.
I hadn't had one since the passing of my mother.
Her embrace was warm, tight, and her heart banged against her chest hard enough for me to feel it as well.
My arms were eager and made their way around her frame, pulling her closer to me.
Her scent was sweet and light, a hint of vanilla soap and white wine.
She pulled away, her face red and a single tear running down her cheek which she wiped away quickly.
"Thank you." She smiled, the light in her eyes only getting brighter.
I nodded and looked away as  I felt my cheeks warm up.
She was so beautiful and I still hadn't gotten used to holding eye contact with her for long.
She caught onto my nervousness and rubbed my shoulders before grabbing some articles of clothing off the floor and disappeared into the bathroom.
I held my face in my hands to hide the grin that conquered my entire face.
There was just something about her being happy that made my stomach dance from side to side, I couldn't put my finger on it.
While Billie was away, I made way to my balcony and stared at the ocean, glistening under the pale moonlight like diamonds under the sun.
The wind was crisp and a bit chilly but it felt good nonetheless.
"Does the moon always look this bright?" A soft voice came from behind.
"Sometimes the moon disappears, haven't you noticed?" I giggled and turned around to face a lavishly dressed girl with half of her hair tied up into a bun while the rest swayed freely in the wind.
She was dressed in velvet burgundy with golden accents and she had complimentary rings on both of her hands.
She looked absolutely powerful.
She rested her arms against the rails on the balcony as stared at the sea.
"I never went out much. Nor was I allowed to have windows." She said plainly.
"How peculiar. Why was that?" I stared back at the sea, avoiding eye contact yet again.
"I've made many attempts to escape my palace and explore the world on my own." She chuckled and glanced over at me.
"It's quite chilly is it not?" She questioned.
"A bit but it's nothing I mind, it's comforting to me."
I shivered a little as the wind blew into our faces, my eyes engulfed in the sight of the waves crashing into the silver sand.
Suddenly, I felt warm.
The cold sensation on my arms was gone and I had a burgundy  coat hanging off my shoulders, shielding me from the frigid air.
I looked over at Billie as she rubbed my arms with her hands, the velvet cloth being the barrier between my skin and her touch.
"I wouldn't want you to fall ill." She gave me a smile and pulled me closer until the heat that was radiating off her body was projected onto me.
It was no longer my face that accumulated with heat, my whole body was warm as she stared into my eyes, a small smile tugging at her full lips, never leaving.
"I should head to bed." She finally said, breaking the awkward silence.
I didn't realize I was staring into her eyes, captivated by how clear and vibrant they were.
"Wait your jacket." I began to take it off but she stopped me.
"I can tell you stand out here for hours at a time. Stay warm and I'll pick it up tomorrow." She smiled before leaning down and kissing my cheek ever so gently.
Good night indeed.
