Dear diary,
Billie wore her blue suit made of silk today.
It complimented her eyes beautifully and made it hard for me to talk to her once I returned from the village with Finneas.
"What were you out for?" She asked me over and over again.
Once I had reached my destination in the village , I spent no time describing Billie's beautiful features to the late artist's daughter named Maya.
I made sure to add emphasis on her clear blue eyes and curled lashes, I wanted the painting to look back at me like how she was now.
Maya claimed that just in a few weeks time, the painting would be sent out to me and I couldn't be more impatient.
"Nothing absurd. It was really just to get to know Finneas better before we-" I began to lie but stopped myself.
"Marry." She finished for me.
I nodded and took off my poncho before heading to the dining hall for dinner.
"Do you want to marry?" She questioned, pulling out my seat so I can sit.
"Thank you, very gentleman-like of you." I giggled, avoiding the question.
She laughed along before taking her seat beside me.
Jen scurried in from the kitchen with our meals on a silver platter and placing them carefully in front of us.
"Boo!" Billie yelled, making the maid wince as she poured our drinks into crystal glasses.
"You're horrible." I shook my head and sent Jen back into the kitchen, snorting moments after she did so.
"You're just as horrible for laughing." She pointed out.
I shrugged and sipped my wine, my eyes glancing over at her as she ate with her hands.
I couldn't help but to smile at the sight.
She seemed so content, smiling as she ate, not paying mind to the mess she was leaving on the silk cloth she was wearing.
I couldn't help but to smile as well, just seeing her comfortable and excited to spend time with me made me warm inside.
"May you please hand me something to wipe my hands?" She chuckled, her hands and face a mess.
She looked at me with those ocean eyes, glistening with innocence and just the slightest hint of embarrassment.
I nodded and pulled a handkerchief from in between my bosom, Jen told me not to do that and to carry a purse just for it but I always told her it was unnecessary.
"May I?" I questioned, gesturing that I'd do the cleaning up for her.
Billie's face turned a bright pink as she nodded slowly, giving me permission to tidy her up.
I started with her hands, grease from the meal damping the cloth with an olive tint.
They were warm and slightly larger than mine, but she didn't dare move.
I can feel her eyes on me as I focused on making sure her hands were as clean as I could possibly make them before moving on to her mouth.
It was covered with crumbs and slight bits of food from her shoving her meal down her throat.
I was gentle with wiping her face, paying attention to the way her pink lips glistened after she licked crumbs I didn't get to yet.
I observed her.
She observed me.
We looked at each other, an invisible gravitational pull bringing us closer together until the sound of her breath was in range and I could feel it against my lips.
The heat from my cheeks bounced off her face and I felt the slightest graze of her top lip over mine.
"Was dinner fine?" Jen's small voice rang out as she made her way back toward us.
In a matter of seconds, Billie was back to being two feet away from me, a red hue glowing from her face.
"It was wonderful." I smiled, my eyes still on her.

"Is this what you do every night?" Billie questioned as we sat by my balcony, watching the ocean dance from below with the moon lighting up the scenery.
"Why is it that you're so curious about me and what I do?" I blushed while staring out into the view.
"What is there to not be curious about. You hold so many secrets captive and I'm determined to set them free." She replied simply.
"I have no secrets, everyone knows everything about me." I shrugged.
"Everything?" She asked.
"Yes."
"I'll take your word for it." She joked.
"Good." I said.
"Good." She echoed.
"How do you like the palace so far?" It was my turn to ask the questions.
"To be completely honest, I expected to hate it here, to hate everyone including you." She started, laughing once she heard me gasp from her confession.
"But even from the first time I saw you, I knew you were good and that you would be good for me and my brother. I appreciate you and everything you have done for us." She got closer to me and snaked both her arms around my waist.
I smiled and turned to her, wrapping my arms around her neck and enjoying her embrace.
We were hugging again, but this time it felt more intimate and warm compared to the last.
We stood there in silence, arms selfishly draped around each other's bodies, not daring to let go.
The wind blew softly, some of the cherry blossoms from nearby trees making their way onto the balcony floor, tickling our bare feet.
Billie let out a soft giggle into the crook of my neck, making me giggle as well.
"Thank you again." She mumbled.
"If there's anyway I can repay you, please do not hesitate to bring it to my attention." She pulled away and looked at me with a soft look in her eyes.
I nodded, shivering as her warm embrace was replaced with the frigid air.
"I'll see you in the morning Princess." She smiled and grabbed a hold of my hand before bringing it up to her lips and kissing it tenderly.
"Goodnight Billie." I cooed before turning away quickly, hiding my red face.
Once she was gone, I crawled into my bed and rubbed the hand she kissed so tenderly over my lips, over and over again.
