I could hear mum's voice slowly and distantly. 

Why isn't joanne awake yet, she slept early yesterday so why isn't she already awake.

I heard princess say, then a splash.

Arrgghh..., who the hell poured cold water on me, I opened my eyes blazing with anger to princess sweet smile.

Morning sister, mission accomplished, vengeance completed, she said with a final laugh and dashed out while i pursued her in a hot chase.

   Girls i said stop it!

Joanne will you behave yourself you are the eldest, mum said in between me and princess.

Mum she poured cold water on me, i said in between gritted teeth.

Princess i asked you to wake her up not pour water on her, don't you have respect for your elder sister, mum scolded.

  Mum,  but she has always been pouring water on me whenever she wakes me up, it's just revenge, princess said defensively.

That's because she's a deep sleeper, I'm not she could have just tapped me, i said hotly.

Enough now, mum said abruptly 'let's go pray, your dad had to leave early '

Okay mum we said jointly as we moved to the living room.

Princess brought out her tongue at me and i told myself 'she's a child' i shouldn't let it get to me.

Still, anger simmered through me all through the prayer, I could barely remember the prayer points.

The only thing on my mind was my very beautiful beautiful sleep that was interrupted in the cruelest way ever and am still going to continue it after this devotion.

Joanne! mum called.

Ma, oh no what again won't they just let me sleep, I grumbled as i left my bed.

Joanne, don't tell me you went back to sleep, it's 7 o'clock you should be doing the house chores, mum said.

I'll still do it, i got the whole day to myself, i said.

Well i'm heading to work and the food isn't ready yet so you'll have to take food to your sister in school, mum said walking towards the door.

But you know i can't go there, it's my former school they'll be asking me about my admission, i said exasperated.

In the afternoon you can take garri, there's a bottle of groundnut and sugar but if you don't want that you can fry yam, mum said totally ignoring me.

Muuuum, i said as i followed her out but she just stopped a cab and left.

I was angry, i already said i won't go back to my former school until am a student of an higher institution.

How  will i face the questions, they'll all be asking me about my admission status.

Joanne, am already going, princess said backing her school bag.

Have you taken your food?

Mum said..., she started to say.

I don't care what mum said, i can't bring you lunch in school, i said fiercely.

But am already late and there is still water in the rice it's not yet cooked, tears welled up in her eyes.

I wondered why my sister liked food so much, but i did too.
