"By the way, tonight, after visiting your friend, you should head over to the apartment building that's fifteen blocks down from here, there's a girl there that needs your help." Hill told Diego.
"What? How do you know about my 'friend'?" Diego asked her confused.
"Were you not paying attention earlier? I know everything... Number Two." she smirked as Diego stormed off with a grunt, shaking his head.He trudged up the stairs and collected any of the things that he had dumped in his old room, ready to get out of his childhood hellhole. On his way out, he decided he may as well say goodbye to his siblings.
"Alright, I guess I'll see you guys in, what, 10 years? When Pogo dies?"
"Not if you die first." Allison replied.
"Yeah, love you too sis. Good luck on your next film. Hope it turns out better than your marriage, huh?" Diego smirked.
"Are- Are we leaving?" Klaus stumbled out of his chair.
"No. I'm leaving, me. By myself"
"Oh, fabulous! I'll get my things."Diego briskly walked out of the academy, trying to get away before his brother could catch up. Unfortunately...
"Hey! Diego." Klaus called after him, stepping into the car, "You know, every time I close my eyes, I see a diarrhetic hippo about to shit on my face. It's terrifying."
"Terrific." Diego said through gritted teeth.
"No! No." Klaus shakes his head, trying to keep his eyes open.
"Lean back."The engine growled as Diego put his weight on the accelerator and they raced away from the academy.
Diego stood at the edge of the river, staring at the piece of metal and glass that he held in his hand. He knew she was innocent but he also knew that this was damning evidence.
"Yoohoo, Diego! I hate to rush you through any kind of brooding moment you might be having, but come on man, we're starving!" Klaus called out from the car.
Brushing off his brother's comments and fixating back on the monocle in his hand, he let go and watched it plummet into the water. He stood in silence for a moment, then there was static from the radio and a message, "Gunshots reported on the 400 block of Milton Avenue, Griddy's Doughnuts." Grabbing the radio, Diego got back into the driver's seat.
"Diego, thank you for joining us, we have decided on, drum roll, waffles." Klaus announced.
"I'm gonna drop you off at the bus stop. I gotta get back to work." Diego told him.
"What? Breaking bones and cracking skulls?"
"Saving lives, baby."
"Well, I guess it's frozen waffles again." Klaus broke the news to his other brother.Diego twisted the rear-view mirror towards the other side of the car, perplexed as to why his brother was speaking to the faded fabric seat next to him.
"Yeah, I could do egg and bacon, but I'm trying to cut down on my pig products." Klaus mumbled to Number Six.
Strapping on his leather mask, Diego started the engine and drove off to the local bus stop. The streetlamps flickered and the horns of New Yorker's cars echoed throughout the avenues of the city. The car pulled up to the bus stop and Diego turns to his exceedingly high brother.
"Ok buddy. Out you get."
"But we're having so much fun. Brother to brother. We're just... vibing, you know?" Klaus philosophised.
"No. I don't." Diego said coarsely, "Now get out."
"Whyyyyyyyy?" he drawled.Diego didn't respond, jumping out of the car, swinging open the passenger door and dragging his brother out of the vehicle. Klaus struggled in his brother's grip before being dropped on the sidewalk.
"Why'd you do that?" Klaus groaned clasping his head.
"Maybe if you weren't so high all the time, you'd be able to function." Diego said as he got back in his car and drove away.
