The first of August
This is our next concentration.
Welcome to break it down part 2!
The first of August was written to represent those wonderful big sister out there in the world. The ones just like mine.
The poet expresses her pain as a child and how her sister picked her up Everytime.
She goes further to say that even when she needed space, her sister would
"Close the gap to give her space"
She would comfort her so that she would know she is always loved.
Towards the ending the poet begins to sing praises to her sister.
She prays for her and wishes her the best "from the first of August and counting up."
Note: I am the original author of every poem in this book. I just enjoy talking about myself in third person🤗
And in future, I'm going to be breaking down the previous poems too. I'd make sure to include what type of poem it is and why it is what it is.
