Authors POV

It was about five AM when Y/N's phone rang. She reached over to grab her phone off the nightstand. " Hello?" She answered, still half asleep. " Y/n?" A worried voice rang from the other line. " Who's this?" Y/n asked, her tiredness getting the best of her. " Oh god. It's your friend, Carrie. Are you alright?" She asked.

Y/n chuckled. " Yeah Carrie I'm fine. Just tired it is all. I just got up from a nap." She said, rubbing her eyes and sitting up, crossing her legs on the bed. She turned to the side to see a sleeping Sam. Y/n mentally noted to keep her voice down so she didn't wake him. " Anyways, hows it going?" Carrie asked. Y/n stood, making her way to the bathroom to talk to her there. " everything's good, working on a case with a co-worker you know." Y/n responded. She could hear Carrie hum a response on the other end. " How about you?" Y/n added.

" Oh I'm doing good. Just dealing with my headache of a sister." She said. " What happened this time?" Y/n asked, playfully rolling her eyes. " Oh the same old thing. Jenna keeps getting worried that her boyfriend is cheating on her because he had to leave out of town for a few days. He just told her it was a business trip." Carrie said a small chuckle at the end of her statement. Y/n hummed in response, opening the bathroom door a bit to see if Sam had woken up. He was still asleep on the bed, hair all ruffled up and the glare of the TV hitting his face in the perfect angle where all of his features were outlined perfectly. ' He looks adorable.' Y/n thought, smiling to herself before shutting the door again. Y/ n responded to Carrie this time. " Does Jenna not trust her boyfriend at all? Maybe he is just out on a business trip." Y/n said. She heard Carrie sigh on the other end. " She went through his phone and saw text messages between him and his brothers talking about how he doesn't really like her. With the added statement that he was just using her for something. " Carrie said, letting out a huff.

Y/n looked down. " Why didn't she just break up with him if she knew that?" She asked, furrowing her brows. " She 'loves' him too much, she says. But then again, I doubt that because those two argue so much and she's always talking to someone else behind his back. It's a little suspicious you know?" Carrie said, shuffling in the background. Y/n chuckled, nodding even though she knew Carrie couldn't see it.

" Sorry for calling so early by the way. Just that I get up for work and normally you call me. I thought something happened to you on the job." She said, letting out a breath at the end. " Oh god, I'm fine. I just over slept. I'm on a case right now so I need all the sleep I can get. Plus, I'm not home so I'm taking advantage. " Y/n said.

" Oh I see. Listen, I'll call you later. I'm about to drive and I don't want anything to happen." she said, and Y/n could hear a muffled door closing in the background. " Of course, I'll call you later." She said. Carrie let out a distant goodbye, sounding as if she was doing something before Y/n did the same, ending the call.

As Y/n opened the bathroom door, she noticed that Sam wasn't on the bed anymore. She walked through the small hall that led to the tiny kitchen they had in the hotel room, seeing Sam making himself a cup of coffee. " Morning." He grumbled, staring at her. Y/n smiled, before responding. " Morning." She said her voice sounding happier than usual. Sam looked back to his cup of coffee before speaking again. " You look really small in my sweater." He said, grinning a bit.

Y/n turned her head to him as she was about to grab milk from their small fridge. " Oh, I actually forgot I had this on." She said, setting the milk on the counter as she began to remove the sweater. " Keep it." Sam said, stopping her. He smirked, lifting his cup to his lips. " Looks better on you anyways." He said before moving to sit in front of the window they had. Y/n blushed furiously. " Hey y/n..."
