The Root of the Problem

I was talking to Hiccup about some new ideas for defenses when Luna came flying into the clubhouse, she seemed a bit frantic and unsteady.
"We have a situation, a massive situation," she said.
I got up and walked over to her, Dewdrop was hanging onto her ear like the little dragon likes to do. "What's going on, Luna? What's this massive situation?"
A loud dragon cry sounded in the distance and made Luna and Toothless flinch. "That. A Thunderdrum is fighting a really hostile, scarred, and freshly injured Gronckle with Dragon Root strapped to it, I can't get near it," she said.
"Right, because Night Furies are one of the most susceptible dragons to the root and you're half Night Fury," Hiccup said as he walked up and placed a hand on my back.
Snotlout soon landed Hookfang outside before coming in, "What was that noise? It shook my whole hut!"
"A Thunderdrum, we need Fishlegs," Hiccup said then hurried to Toothless to go get the big guy.
Right after Hiccup left, Luna began pacing a little before turning to me, "Go get Stormfly, I'll get the twins then lead everyone there," she said then hurried out and flew off.

The dragons were on the other side of the island but as soon as the Thunderdrum saw us coming, it flew over and stopped in front of Luna, giving soft roars to which Luna nodded.
"He was only trying to keep the Gronckle in one place until I got back with all of you, he knows about the vikings that ride dragons and help others," she said then the dragon flew off.
We all flew down and landed but Toothless and Luna landed a bit further back. Fishlegs sent Meatlug to at least get the Dragon Root off the wild Gronckle so that Luna could go in and calm it down which was a pretty simple process and afterwards Fishlegs took Meatlug to go dispose of the root as Luna handed Dewdrop off to Ruffnut.
"Alright, much better, now let's find out what or who brought this Gronckle here," Luna said and approached, purring gently and calming the dragon right down, "He doesn't remember anything except falling asleep on his island then waking up here, it was likely Johann's doing to make the rest of the dragons here go crazy and start fighting each other. Probably intended for this poor guy to head for the stables." She discarded the rest of the rope that was holding down the Gronckle's wings, "There, from the sounds of it, your island is that way," she pointed off to an island in the distance but it was still visible on the horizon.
I looked over at Hiccup but he was concentrated on something then, all of a sudden, he hurried towards Luna. "Wait, he's got-!"
The wild Gronckle growled at Hiccup and knocked Luna down to make himself look tougher so Hiccup would stay away, which he did but he still looked worried.
"Gah!" Luna cried out in pain and held her arm which had a gash now, blood trickling down her arm. She looked ill almost immediately and softly groaned, "Dragon Root on his claws..." she finished what Hiccup was going to say then purred at the Gronckle who calmed down again then went and washed his feet in the water before flying off.
Ruffnut rushed forward with Dewdrop and knelt beside Luna as our Dragon Girl passed out.

"Hiccup, she needs the antidote, now!" Ruffnut urged after laying Luna in her bed.
"Alright, when Toothless was hit by a Dragon Root arrow, Dagur made an antidote with Fire Fern, Bitterweed, and Purple Oleander. We need those and fresh water, don't touch Fire Fern with your bare hands though, it burns," Hiccup said.
"Tuffnut and I will get the Purple Oleander," Ruffnut said and dragged her brother out to Barf and Belch.
I looked at Snotlout, "You get the water, I'll get the Bitterweed, and Hiccup can go get the Fire Fern," I said then looked at Hiccup, "Try not to get burned this time," I told him and we all hurried off.
Fishlegs was just flying back and we ran into each other, I told him what was going on and he headed to Luna's hut to go watch over her. I wasn't sure if Hiccup meant the green or purple Bitterweed so I found one of each, thankfully they weren't too hard to find so I went and got a pot to mix up the antidote in because Luna didn't have one at her hut, I got back to see Hiccup, Snotlout, and Fishlegs but the twins weren't back yet.

"There's no Purple Oleander on our island so they had to go to anther island to find one, Ruffnut is really worried," Hiccup told me as he took the pot from me to put over the fire he already made.
"Well it makes sense, she loves Luna, you'd be the same way if I was the one in trouble," I said and watched him add the water, he let it come to a boil before putting in the ingredients we had, now we just had to wait for the twins to get back with that flower.
We were all on edge and Luna wasn't doing well at all, Dewdrop had been left with her and I could tell the little dragon was as worried as the rest of us. I felt I could finally breathe when I saw a Zippleback in the distance.
"They're back! I hope they found the flower," I said.
"Took them long enough, if you ask me, I'd say they were taking their sweet time while Luna was dying here," Snotlout frowned, it was odd how much Snotlout had come to accept Luna since that time she played to his ego.

It was nerve wracking to wait for the antidote to be done then even more so when Fishlegs poured it down Luna's throat, nothing happened for a moment then Luna's eyes snapped open as her wings did the same a second later. She was up, her pupils were slits as she growled at all of us then she shot plasma at us, chasing us out of the hut.
"Hiccup! What's going on? What did that antidote do to her?!" Ruffnut growled at him but I held her back, slightly grimacing at the stench of fish oil in her hair.
"Calm down, Ruff, Toothless was the same way after taking the antidote, but he got better so Luna will too, we just have to wait for her to calm down," Hiccup assured.
The blasting in Luna's hut soon stopped, she ran out of shots, but there was still crashing and that took a little while to slow down and stop. I jumped when I felt crawling on my back but it was just the little MossWing that had clung to my back as we escaped.

An hour passed and it was silent, Ruffnut was wary but still walked up to peek her head in, it was too quiet...
"She's alright!" Ruff announced as Luna came out, rubbing her bandaged arm.
Luna seemed dazed, "What...What happened?" she asked, "I remember calming the Gronckle then everything after that is blank..."
"He had his claws dipped in concentrated Dragon Root, I startled him and he got your arm when he knocked you down," Hiccup explained.
"You gave us all a scare, we thought we were gonna lose you but thankfully Hiccup knew the antidote," I said, holding the baby MossWing.
"There's an antidote for Dragon Root? I didn't know that, thank you, Hiccup, I would've been dead right now if you hadn't had that," she smiled then stumbled and fell against Ruffnut, "I'm still dizzy, I should probably go lay down..."
Hiccup nodded, "Though it's really Dagur you should be thanking, he's the one who made the antidote for Toothless a while ago, I wouldn't have known it if not for him."
Luna chuckled, "Guess the crazy man is good after all, I still don't like him trying to touch my wings."
"That's understandable," Fishlegs chuckled and we all laughed along.
