Gabriel woke up in the middle of the night to Cas crying. He frowned. Cas never cried. Not because he thought it was bad. He just didn't. It wasn't something he did.

He carefully looked over to Cas, seeing him perched on Dean's bed, Dean's hand pressed to his mouth. "Come on, baby... Just wake up. I know it seems better, there. But... We need you. Please?"

Gabriel got up and went over to Cas. "You need sleep, Cas. He might wake up while you're asleep."

"No, no. I need to be awake when he wakes up. So he isn't alone." Cas shook his head. Gabriel knew better than to argue.

"I'll get some coffee, then." Gabriel headed down to the cafeteria, running a hand over his face. He kinda envied Dean. In a selfish, fleeting way. He'd give anything for a nap and a safe fantasy world. But, he knew it was bad for Dean to be in that world. Still. It'd be nice.

He sat down for a moment while he debated food. Luckily, both jobs had given him the next week off. He might need longer, but that was for later. He looked over the menu and just settled on a muffin. He got up and went to the counter, ordering the muffin and coffee for Cas.

While he was waiting, his phone rang. He pulled it out. Sam. He sighed and slid over the decline button. Then, he went back up to the room. It was midnight. Sam could wait.

When he got there, Cas was asleep, hunched over Dean. Definitely not in a good position. He needed to sleep, though. So, Gabriel just stuck a blanket over him and laid back down, coughing a little before falling asleep.

The morning came way too soon. He blinked when he woke up to hushed voices. Cas was talking to a nurse about methods of waking Dean up. Gabriel didn't really know any way to contribute, so he just went to the bathroom to change. He looked down at himself and frowned, realising he didn't feel panicky. They were just... scars. He should probably be worried, but he was relieved he didn't feel like puking.

He looked over at the bath and thought for a moment before shrugging. He went over to it and ran some water, undressing and getting in. He relaxed until the water was high enough and smiled, turning off the water and sinking in deeper. This was nice... Very nice.

He closed his eyes and swirled his fingers in the water. Nice hot water... Very nice. He didn't even feel himself drift off to sleep, waking up to a knock on the door.

"Gabe?" It was Sam's voice. Gabriel jolted up, a little panicked. But, he relaxed when he realised where he was. Just the bathroom. He let out a breath. "Yeah?"

"You okay? Cas said you've been in there for about an hour..." He could hear a frown in Sam's voice.

"Oh, uh, yeah! I'm fine! Just getting out!" He stood up and towel dried before getting dressed opening the door and almost running smack into Sam.

"Sorry." Sam blushed, looking exhausted. He moved out of the way.

"It's okay. I'm gonna grab breakfast." Gabriel smiled. "See ya, Samsquatch." He headed down to the cafeteria, stopping short when he realised what he did. Had he... teased Sam? A blush spread across his face. Oh god. He'd just flirted with Sam. He hoped to god Sam wouldn't take it that way.

He probably wouldn't since he was so oblivious.

Gabriel shook his head to clear it and finished his trek down to the cafeteria. Maybe it would be a good thing if Sam picked up on his flirting. Sam might finally realise Gabriel was in love with him and fall in love back.

As if that would ever happen. Sam seemed to be happy with Ruby... Except, he didn't. Not really. Besides, it was obvious Ruby was cheating. He just had to figure out how to tell Sam about it.
