About an hour after she got home, John B showed up in the van at her house, with JJ and Pope accompanying him. He told Claire he'd figured out what Redfield really meant, after explaining what happened at the lighthouse and after he was bailed out of jail by Kiara's dad. Claire had called him an "absolute idiot" but changed into some jeans and a plain black t-shirt, and then they went to pick up Kiara.
Claire had volunteered to go in, seeing as she was most likely the only one out of the group who Mike Carrera still liked.
"Hey Anna," Claire waved to Kie's mum who was behind the counter doing some paperwork.
Anna waved back, "hi Claire."
Kiara was at the end spackling the wall but turned to face Claire as she approached her.
"What's up?" Kie asked.
"JB says he figured out what Redfield really means." Claire said quietly.
Kiara sighed. "Seriously?"
Claire shrugged. "Apparently."
"Look, after what happened at the lighthouse, my parents have basically put me on house arrest. I can't go with you guys."
"I get it. I thought I'd come in and ask anyways, since I'm the only one your parents actually like."
Kie laughed softly. "True. I swear they'll be the death of me."
"Fucking oath." Claire agreed, as Kie sighed and walked over to Anna.
"Mom, I promise I'm not getting into trouble but I have to go somewhere." She said.
"Kiara, your father isn't going to like this." Anna said.
"I'll do a double tomorrow if I have to. Please."
"I'll do a double too." Claire offered. "To make up for it if we do end up in trouble–which we won't–but just in case." She said, smiling sheepishly at Anna's suspicious look.
"Alright. But if either of you girls end up in anymore trouble, there'll be consequences."
Claire saluted. "Yes, Mrs C."
"Thank you." Kiara said, kissing her mum on the cheek.
Then the two girls left The Wreck and hopped in the van.
