➸Claire, JJ, Pope and Kiara stayed overnight at The Wreck, each sleeping on chairs or the floor, and Claire found it to be one of the most uncomfortable place she'd ever slept. She was glad it was just for the one night. She woke when she heard Pope and JJ talking and stood up to stretch–feeling several cramps in different parts of her body.
"He's pinched for sure, man." JJ said.
"No. They wouldn't still be patrolling if they caught him." Pope replied.
"Let's hope."
"You know, we were in that car. They're probably looking for us too." Kie said.
"Well, if we're gonna be outlaws, we might as well help John B."
"So, we find him before they do?" Claire said.
Pope grabbed the keys to JJ's bike and headed for the door.
"Pope?"
"I'm gonna get gas for the boat." He explained.
"Hey, you be careful. Okay?" Kie said.
Pope stared at her for a moment before looking at JJ. "Meet me at the dock at three. Don't be late."
The three glanced at each other in confusion and Kie went after Pope. JJ and Claire figured they'd missed something last night so they wandered onto the deck to see what the outcome of this would be.
"Okay, what is your problem?" Kie asked, storming up to him.
"No problem, Officer. I'm just doing my job." Pope replied flatly.
"Look, I'm sorry that I hurt your feelings."
Pope started revving the bike's engine to drown out Kie.
"What was that?"
"Look, I didn't mean to."
"Sorry, I can't hear you. What was that?" He continued, revving the engine louder.
"Pope, I'm being serious–I'm trying to talk to you!"
Pope took off, leaving Kie standing there defeated. As she made her way back to the deck, a helicopter flew overhead.
"Who the hell is that?" JJ asked.
"News crew maybe? Or maybe they brought in a higher authority?" Claire suggested.
