The clock ticking as seconds pass. Few minutes to twelve. Time passed slowly. At least that is what you thought. You were tugged in bed ready to sleep.
A minute to 12.
The sound of the second hand becoming more prominent with its every movement. The light which found its way into your room through the gap between your door and the bedroom floor was no longer lit. You heard footsteps followed by a door being slammed close.
They were asleep.
You pulled the duvet from your body. You walked towards your study table. The floor creaking with each step. You sat on the chair in front of your table. Switched on your PC the bright light making you squint your eyes.
Now you get to work.
You bend down to get the book that you hid under your bed. Dusting it off with your hand.
'JJK'
You had been quite curious who this person is. This killer had killed six people in a span of two years. No one knew who would be next. He kills without discrimination. Age, sex, class, race, profession, or even hobbies didn't seem to stop him which made him even more terrifying. He could kill anybody when he feels like it. There is not a specific time interval after which he kills. Killing seems to be his passion.
But for some reason, all his victims were found in the same alley.
One could have opted to wait outside that alley every day even the cops had tried in desperation but then the bodies which came next were a week or so old. The killer preserved the body waited until the watch cops were not looking or were not there.
It was two years since his first serial murder. The first year, there were three murders, last year there was one and this year there were two already.
He was too mysterious. A little too good. You would say well-hidden but well didn't seem to be the appropriate word. He made look as though he didn't even exist. As though, thepolice had been searching for no one.
Some people even believed that. He was the new 'boogeyman' mothers would tell their children about. The stories were on someone lurking in the shadows about how not to trust or talk to strangers or the 'serial-killer' would come and take them away. Little did they know that he didn't need anyone to even look his way to take their life.
You aspired to be a journalist. You were good with puzzles so why not solve one where the pieces were not given. The only case you ever wanted to and have worked on was this one. You were always thinking about him, his murders. You were too interested and you knew that. Your parents didn't know this because if they did it would worry them to the point that they will become too protective. You were their princess after all.
However, they were the reason you found out about all this. They would come late every day for weeks. You thought that the precinct got a new lieutenant who was giving the detectives a hard time. You got suspicious when your parents would always distract you as you scrolled through the news channel. They were hiding something. But when you found out, it didn't leave your mind.
Moving your cursor to reach your browser. Typing 'Murders in Busan for the last 5 years' in the search bar and hitting the enter button on your keyboard. You clicked the first website you saw. Scrolling down the links of Wikipedia. Clicking on the fifteenth one since that is till where you had done your 'work'. You knew that the victims were dragged from somewhere. Your goal now was to find that 'somewhere'. All along you believed that his first murder was not his first one. Probably his first murder was in the place where he dragged the bodies from because according to you it was not possible for someone to be so perfect for a passionate murder.
The crime of passion was the type of murder or attempt where the killer has displayed strong emotions like rage etc through their murders. The killers remove their stress, anger, depression any emotion on their victims with who they are usually acquainted. But such murderers were caught faster as they later realize what they have done and don't hide their tracks properly in panic. This was not the case with 'JJK'.
You knew that this search would get you nowhere in life it would probably get some advantage for an internship or a good job but through all this, there was one thing that was in your mind. The question you ask yourself every other day.
What would you do when you finally see him?
When he is right in front of you.
