Chapter 20 You're Back!

Ashlins POV

I woke up and I went for a walk, I didn't know where I was going but I just kept going. I finally stopped at this little sub shop, and got myself a sandwich. I looked around and noticed that the waiter was checking me out, he was kinda cute but not my type. After I ate I walked back home and saw that Darby wasn't there, she left a little note on my bed, "Went to get food be back later -Darbs" I probably should've told her that I got food, but hopefully by the time she gets back I'll be hungry again.

Darby's POV

I drove to the grocery and got some food for dinner, I was scared to go to the grocery now, I don't know how he found me. I had been hiding from him since I was 15 and he suddenly found me, twice. Whenever I walked in I checked everywhere to see if there were other people. Thankfully there were, but he wasn't there. I got what I needed and left, I was going to make chicken alfredo with home made garlic bread. For dessert I was making triple chocolate fudge cake.

I drove back home and started making diner. When I was done we sat down and ate, then Ashlin asked me a question, "Why haven't you been sleeping lately?"

"What are you talking about, I have been sleeping just fine." I said. That was a lie, I could only sleep for an hour then I would wake up.

"That's a lie, I have seen you wake up and wonder the house only an hour after you 'fell asleep', so why?" she said putting her plate up.

"I keep thinking about that night at the club, the pain rushing through my body shot after shot. I could feel the bullets go through my body and exit out the other side. I can feel the pain every time I walk into a grocery store." I said holding back the tears.

"I'm so sorry, I had no idea." she said trying to console me.

"It's fine, I'll be fine." I said.

"Alright, well I'll see you later."she said walking through the door.

I got a text from Niall,

Nialler x

"Hey, have you heard about the VMA's?"

Me

"Yeah, why?"

Nialler x

"I was wondering if you would like to come with me?"

Me

"Sure I'll go with you :)."

Nialler x

"Great, I'll see you then! :)"

I started to giggle at how cute he was being.

I swear he was the cutest thing on the planet, I started feeling better and then I looked down at my wrists. I had forgotten that I started cutting again, but the tattoos made them hard to see. I could still feel the indents from previous scars. I got up, and put on some green skinny jeans a white tshirt with a purple blazer and white TOMS. I went out for a walk in the park, I was missing that place Harry took me back in London. Then I remembered that kiss with Zayn and how amazing it was. I sat down on a bench and people started coming up to me asking if they could get a picture with me.

Hours later I decided to go back home and change, I checked my phone and saw that Niall texted again.

Nialler x

"Hey, we're flying into California tomorrow. I'll see you there :)."

Me

"Yay, I'm so excited. See y'all tomorrow."

I truthfully was excited, I really missed them so much. I changed into a purple tanktop and some spongebob fuzzy pants.

Ashlin?s POV

I was texting Liam and I was worried.

"What's wrong with her?"

Me

"Well she hasn't been sleeping lately, she started cutting again, and she hasn't been eating."

Li<3

"Oh my goodness, has she talked to you about it?"

Me

"Not really, but she did say, 'I keep thinking about that night at the club, the pain rushing through my body shot after shot. I could feel the bullets go through my body and exit out the other side. I can feel the pain every time I walk into a grocery store.'. do you think that has anything to do with it?"

"Well, I never told anyone this but the guy that shot her at the club was the same guy at the grocery store."

Me

"What?! Well I have to go and talk to her. I'll talk to you later, love you bye <3."

"Love you too <3."

I went to Darby's room and she was on her phone. I sat on the edge of her bed and waited until she looked up from her phone. "What?" she asked

"Are you ok?" I asked with concern.

"I'm fine Ashlin, ok. Like I told you earlier."

"Darby, I know you're not fine. I know you've started cutting again and you haven't been eating. I also know that the guy that shot you at the club was the one who shot you at the grocery." I said with a pleading look. "What are you hiding?"

She sighed, "Ok, I'll tell you, but you have to promise not to tell anyone." she said holding out her pinky. We pinky swore and she continued, "When I was 15, I had a boyfriend. He tried to do 'things' with me that I didn't want to do. I broke up with him and he started to follow me, he would stalk me and he started being aggressive twards me. He soon developed a hatered for me and he would threaten me, when he found me in the grocery I wanted to run but he got me." she was starting to tear up. I had never seen her cry before and once she realized it she stopped and had a stern look on her face.

"Why haven't you told me about this?" I asked.

"Because I really didn't want people to know."

"I'm so sorry to hear." I told her, I felt so bad. Knowing how scared she was I didn't know of anything that would scare her. I didn't know anything else to say so I hugged her. I walked out of her room and informed Liam on everything, he just told me to give her some space and she'll be fine.

Darby's POV

I felt so awful, I was glad I didn't cry though. I just went to sleep after Ashlin and I's talk.

I woke up to loud screaming, "Wake up Darby, wake up!" my eyes creaked open and I saw Louis, Harry, Zayn, and Niall jumping on my bed and shaking me. My eyes popped open and I was so happy. I jumped up and hugged them all, first in a group hug then individually.

"Oh my god you're all here!" I screamed with joy.

"Why wouldn't we be here? Since we are in California we might as well." Niall said with a big grin on his face.

"Well guys I have to get dressed, so could y'all give me a minute?" I said shooing them out. I came out with white ripped skinny jeans that had studs in the rips, red Chuck Taylor's and a red stripped shirt and a black mid elbow blazer. I left my hair curly and I put on cat eye makeup. I walked down stairs and I grabbed both of my phones. The boys wanted to go and get food so we took them to this little sub shop that was down the road. We weren't allowed to walk because of the fans. I was holding Niall's and Harry's hands so I didn't lose them, Harry's hand was so much bigger than mine and my hand was bigger than Niall's. Louis and Zayn were in front of me and behind Ashlin and Liam, who were holding hands. Soon after we ate and left, Ashlin and I got ready for the VMAs.
