Chapter 2 Helpful Stranger

Ashlins POV

I was beginning to worry when Darby hadn't come back. I called her phone but she didn't answer. I ended up getting a call from the police station, "Hello, is this Ashlin?" the person asked.

"Yeah." is said. "Is something wrong?"

"You're friend Darby has been in an accident." he said.

"What kind of accident?" I managed to say before the tears came.

"She has been shot and is in critical condition. "

My heart sank, "What hospital is she in?"

Then he gave me the address. Luckily I had just gotten my license so I could drive there. "Hello, do you have a patient here named Darby?" I asked the receptionest. She motioned me to her room. She was hooked up to so many machines and she had blood all over her. Then the doctor came in, "You must be Ashlin. I'm Dr. Strauss."

"What happend to her?" I said wiping my tears.

"She was shot in the abdomen then she fell and hit her head off of a counter. The man had stepped on her chest and broke many ribs."

I just started crying then I grabbed her hand. "Who called 911?" I asked.

"It was actually this young man." he motioned to the door. A man came from around the corner and I knew exictally who he was. He was Liam Payne.

Liam's POV

"Ok Niall, I'll go get you some food. Just please be quiet." I said trying to keep calm. I had driven to the grocery when I saw the most beautiful girl in the world. Her hair was the perfect color of red with little ringlets and she looked very fit. I wanted to say hello to her but I was too shy. I saw a man looking at her from around the corner and it looked mighty creepy.

She walked up to the man and said something. Then he shot her I couldn't believe he just shot her. She fell and hit her head on a shelf then the man ran out, stepping on her chest and I could hear the bones breaking. I dialled 911 and gave them our location. "Do you know this woman?" the paramedic asked.

"No, we've only just met." I said. They hauled her away in the EMT and she was gone. I drove myself to the hospital just because I wanted to know if she as going to be ok. I saw this really cute blonde walk into her room. The doctor motioned for me to come in. "Hi, I'm Liam." I said as I extended my hand. We shook hands then I saw her crying. I pulled her in for a hug and was trying to comfort her. I pulled away then we sat in the chairs that were in her room. "So, what's her name?" I asked trying to break the silence.

"Darby, and I'm Ashlin." she said. Then Darby started to stir.

Ashlins POV

I couldn't believe I was in the same room as Liam Payne. Then I noticed Darby starting to move. I ran to the side of her bed and grabbed her hand.

Darby's POV

I couldn't move I tried to but I ended up screaming in pain. I saw Ashlin and was immeadiatly calmed down. Then I saw a strange figure sitting behind her. He looked fimilular, then I realized who it was. I pulled Ashlin close to me and whispered. "Why is Liam Payne in my room?"

"He's the one who called 911."

"Hi, so you are the one who called the paramedics?" I said to him.

"Yeah." he said, looking down at the floor.

"Thank you so much, if you weren't there. I would've been a goner. Why did you come to the hospital though?" I questioned.

"I wanted to see if you were ok." he said still looking at the ground. I couldn't understand why he wouldn't look at me. I surely didn't look that awful.

"Well, that was very kind of you. Thank you."

"Ok well, I must be off. If you need anything, here's my number." he handed a small folded piece of paper to Ashlin. Then she gave him my number, since she didn't have a phone yet. He walked out of the room and Ashlin came running over to me.

"OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU WERE SAVED BY LIAM PAYNE!!" she yelled.

"Yeah, can you get the doctor please. I need to ask him something." I asked. She came back with the doctor and he was holding a new gown for me.

"Change into this, that one has blood all over it." he handed me the gown.

"Hey doc. When will I be able to leave?" I questioned.

"Within the next two days. We have to keep you, make sure you don't have a concussion." he said.

*Two Days Later*

I was finally allowed to leave. That morning I had received a text

"Hello, this is Liam. Have you left the hospital yet?"

I didn't know why he was texting me. I thought he just gave me his number because he felt bad.

Liam's POV

When I left the hospital, the boys had called me so many times. Then Niall called, "Hey mate, where are ya?" he asked.

"I'm on my way, I was at the hospital."

"Why were you there!?"

"I'll explain it to you when I get home alright?"

"Oh and could you bring the food please?"

"Alright Nialler, I be there in 5." then I hung up. I arrived and Darby's story was on the news. Then it showed my picture on there. "One Direcions Liam Payne was there to save this damsel in distress." The boys just looked at me then Niall shouted, "So that's why you were at the hospital!" then I just remembered seeing the bullet go through her and my teeth cringed.

"Well isn't she pretty." stated Harry.

"Try beautiful." Zayn added. I had to agree, she was beautiful. I gave them a brief recap of what happend. Then I told them that I gave her my number.

"LIAM, you don't it's give out your number to random people." Louis yelled. I didn't care I just went to my room and went to sleep.

"Hello, this is Liam. Have you left the hospital yet?" I asked.

She actually replied, "Yeah leaving now. Again, thanks for all your help."

"No problem, um this is a weird question, but can I see you?"

"Um sure, just give me like two hours and you can meet me at Starbucks. That sound good?"

"Perfect, I'll see you then." I was so excited that I could see her again. I ran down the stairs and told the boys that I was meeting up with her. I was jumping with joy.
