"Sam, please be a good boy. Papa will go now. Ok?"
The toddler nodded his head enthusiastically with a wide smile at his Papa who scouted down in front of him to place a soft kiss on his forehead.
"Good boy!"
The young man, with honey-colored skin and round brown eyes, who wore his university uniform ruffled the toddler's hair making the small guy whine for making his hair a mess.
"Love you, Papa. Bye, bye!" Sam kissed the man's cheek before running to his class.
The young man stood up and sighed happily before he turned towards his friend who was waiting impatiently looking at his watch from time to time.
"Why are you so tensed, Aim? Come, let's go," the young man said to his friend, rolling his eyes as he walked.
The man with fair skin and chubby cheeks followed his friend towards their bike.
"How can I not be tensed, Kongpob? The class will begin in 20 minutes! And you took a whole hour to send off your little prince to school," Aim shook his head.
Kongpob chuckled at his friend's antics. He knows his friend can be overreacting at times.
"Aim, he is just 5 years old. I have to make sure he is ready and there is nothing wrong with my part. After all, I'm his only family." Kongpob said as he put in his helmet.
Aim suddenly stopped his dramatic movements when he heard Kongpob's words. He cannot help but worry about his friend.
"Kong, I didn't mean like that. It's not possible to send Sam to school every day. We too have classes, Kong. You should send him on a school bus," Aim suggested to his friend, his voice soft and calm.
Kongpob accelerated his bike slowly.
"You know that I promised him that I will always drop him up. At least he is giving me the option that his nanny would take him back home after school. You know how he is without me."
Aim sighed. He could never win over Kongpob. From the past 8 years he has been knowing Kongpob, his love for Sam was more than a mother's love for her child, more than a father's care to his child. Aim couldn't help but think about the bitter memories from the past that made his friend whom he was at the moment.
Aim held on to Kongpob's shoulders as his friend started to ride the bike to their university.
Kongpob's life was nothing near to normal. His life had turned into a mess after his parents died in a car accident almost 6 years ago. Leaving him alone in this world with a newborn baby in his hands.
He was just 13 at the time.
Even though his mother's brother offered to shelter him, he refused. Because the last thing he remembers his mother said to him was to never believe his uncle and to never seek help from him.
That's when Kongpob decided to be both a mother and father to his younger brother, Sam.
Thinking about Sam itself brought a heaviness to Kongpob's chest. He loved his brother more than anyone in this world. It was only for his brother's safety that he had taken the risk to run away.
Kongpob shook his head which flooded with his bitter past as he parked the bike at the parking lot. Quickly rushing towards his class with his best friend, Aim, who knew him like an open book, fuming for being late even though they were 10 minutes early.
"You can't spare a minute without seeing May, do you?" Kongpob rolled his eyes as he watched Aim rushing to sit beside his girlfriend, May, and kissing her cheek mumbling he missed her.
