The song „Again" by the rock musician Lenny Kravitz was released in 2000 through Virgin Records. Usually the song was set to be on his sixth studio album, but he released it as a single, as he thought the song wouldn't fit in there.
„Again" earned lot of critics. Rob Brunner for example calls it a „ridiculous mid-tempo-snooze". And in general the song is called lame and undemanding. Nevertheless, the song was nominated and won a Grammy Award for the „best male rock vocal performance".
Debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at number 72, the rock ballad entered the top ten 9 weeks later. It was his second top ten single.
„Again" became the most played song in the country with a gain of 5 million listeners.
Finally the song made it to the 4th place and became Lenny's most sucessful song in nearly 9 years.
The rock ballad keeps Lenny wondering, if he'll ever see his lover again - also seen in the music video.
The music video was filmed in New York City. It shows Lenny with his girlfriend in their apartement, but he doesn't seem interested in her. He fell in love with the waitress he met in the diner. At the end Lenny returns to his apartement, losing the chance to meet her one more time.
In addition, the music video became the first ever downloadable video on MTV.com.
