After Patrick was treated Kyle and Sarah went back to his home lying together up in his room. Kyle stared into space thinking.
"Kyle?" Sarah said speaking up. "Earth to Kyle?"
Kyle broke out of his trance and shook his head turning to look down at Sarah.
"Yes, I'm here."
"Where were you just now?"
"Thinking about my home world."
"I wonder what it looked like."
"I could show it to you."
"Could you really?" she said sitting up.
Kyle sat up in front of her and said, "Yeah, I could link my mind to yours though I've never done it with a human before."
"Let's try it."
"Alright, lay back down."
Kyle and Sarah both lied back down on his bed side by side. Kyle put a hand on her forehead and looked into her eyes.
"Now just close your eyes and clear your mind."
Both of them closed their eyes where Sarah could hear and feel Kyle breathing deeply.
"Now open your eyes."
When Sarah opened her eyes again she was no longer in the confines of Kyle's upstairs bedroom but on a sunny beach standing next to Kyle. They looked out seeing the ocean was a glowing aquamarine and the sky had a bright blue tint. Kyle took her hand walking down the beach.
"Ah Kyle," Sarah exclaimed. "It's so beautiful."
"This is how it looked before it started to become bad on the surface. My parents used to take me here all the time when I was a kid."
Sarah's face grew wide in surprise knowing what was on Kyle's mind turning to him.
"I know what you are thinking. You are thinking about Patrick's accident aren't you?"
"Yeah," Kyle said incredulously. "The mind link must work both ways."
"Now you're thinking of the pep rally. Who do think is responsible?"
"Someone who doesn't like humans?"
"But I thought that was the whole point. You and everyone else becoming part of the mainstream and being accepted."
"Some people could be scared of change and are finding ways to act out."
They both continued walking down the beach enjoying Terra's natural beauty.

Unfortunately despite the vote that allowed Terran students to attend public schools, they still had some detractors which were evident when Kyle saw picketers outside of the school protesting the integration. Kyle walked past them when one of them jumped out of line and stopped him in his tracks holding onto his arm.
"They're in the school," the picketer said imploringly. "I am telling you. Protect your friends and family."
Kyle shrugged him off gently as Sarah walked up beside him heading together through the front doors.
"What was wrong with him?" Sarah asked.
"I don't know," Kyle replied. "He seemed really disturbed by something."
"Wish people would learn that your people are not our enemy."
Inside the hallway, Christian was in the middle of having some time with his girlfriend, Anna.
"Hey Kyle," Christian said seeing Kyle and Sarah passing by.
"Christian, what's up?" he said shaking his hand.
"I heard there have been some good swells on the beach. Ready to take me on?"
"Boys and their surfboards," Anna said, wrapping her arm around Christian's middle.
"Yeah, have you met my girlfriend?" he said. "This is Anna."
"Pleased to meet you."
"Same here," she said, turning her attention to Sarah. "You're Sarah?"
"That be me."
"Yeah, I've seen you at the games."
The morning bell began to ring signaling for the first class period.
"Up....going to be late for Spanish."
"See you later?" Christian said turning to her.
"Hmmm," she said, giving him a kiss before turning to go.
"Catch you later Kyle," Christian said to him before leaving down the hall.
"Count on it," he said before Kyle and Sarah walked off together.
