"So let's begin with the security feeds from November 13, 20 F.A..." I said as I started to go through the console's video files. "Any bit of information we can get about everyone during the breakout is essential."
A first it was a struggle. Many... and I mean many of the video files were of patient records and experiments of sorts.
"Why isn't there as a search bar for the dates?" Geralt asked me.
"That's because the main console has a port blocker," I said. "The computer will analyze any USB ports for a personal encryption key. If the USB has the key then the computer will allow you to copy and paste data, delete data, etc..."
"It unlocks the console's interface." Geralt said.
"Precisely," I affirmed him.
It took about 30 minutes for us to find some footage on the breakout. We had found three recordings. I took a moment to think about what we were doing. We had a chance to review this now or put all of this footage on the USB and take the footage back to our office.
The decision was obvious.
I plugged in the USB and began moving the files from the console to the USB port.
"This is going to take a minute..." I sighed looking at the progress line for the files going up ever so slightly. Geralt tapped my shoulder.
"Give me a moment with Mrs. Victoria," he whispered to me. I nodded and he walked off to go talk to the guard.(Geralt's POV)
"So... Mrs. Adams," I began. "How new are you to the job?" I asked her. She gave me a friendly smile.
"This is my fifth month being here," she said cheerfully. "The place is pretty nice... it's strange working with the Interbreeds."
"When we first met up with Rena she said you mercenaries had the option to receive Rebirth serum," I told her. "Why didn't you take the serum?"
"Because I'm happy being the way I am... human," she told me. "There isn't a flaw in how I made huh?"
"Point understood," I said.Victoria seemed prideful of her own humanity. Qualities of a suspect dealing with a case like this would involve "Pro-Human" feelings.
"How do you feel about Rebirth, Victoria?" I asked her. She gave a very bright smile.
"My partners chose what they wanted." she began. "Plus, I actually enjoy an Interbreed's company," she said with a small blush going over her face.
"Is that so?" I chuckled.
Victoria has a liking for Interbreeds. I guessed that was worth noting.
"So what do you like to do off work?" I asked her.
"Visiting Ruby's bar for a nice drink... then go home and relax," she said crossing her arms. "Got to enjoy the time we have off, Geralt." she laughed.
"Of course Victoria, I like to relax when I'm at home too," I said in concord. "I don't drink too much though."
"Oh, detective! You must have fun sometimes," she said.
"That's when I sleep," I told her.
"You know what I am talking about, detective." she giggled.
Soon Winston came beside me. I assumed he already had the USB port in his pocket.
"Detective Monroe, we have what we want for tonight," Winston said. "Quit flirting with Victoria and let's get back to the office."
"Yes sir." I complied following behind him out the door.
"Sir about Victoria..."
"Save it for the car, for now, Geralt," he said as we began to make our way through the corridor back to the main entrance of the facility. We then exited the facility and headed to the car."I'll drive..." he said. Now I knew at that moment something was up. I was always the driver whenever we went anywhere... even back. As we both got into the car, he got out the ignition key and turned it with force. The car roared to life.
"What is the rush old man?" I asked him as we pulled out quickly from the parking spot.
"One of the clips I saw that were before the 13th showed my old boss and her associates negotiating with the Faunheissers," he said. "I managed to grab that video clip along with the breakout footage."
"Go on..." I said.
"I think we are dealing with a mole in the VIS...." he said.
"Doesn't sound too far fetched," I told him.
"Son, I was fired for trying to thoroughly investigate what happened in that facility to cause such a massacre..." he sighed. "I was a greenhorn like you... at the peak of my game taking on the very case we are doing now in secrecy...."
We began to exit the grounds of the facility. The mercenaries opened the doors for us and we zoomed off towards the city. The old man is a decade ahead of me... literally.
