Chapter 16

The dinner was the same as before, but a lot more decent compared to the first time. It's probably because of Reina's presence. The said girl calmly ate her food, smiling softly as she watched the three kids eat so wildly like animals—which to her is strangely cute and adorable.

"Not to be rude but, why are you still here?"

Tearing her gaze away from the three, Reina looked up and saw Dadan looking at her questioningly. She stared— no signs of hostility nor negative emotions could be trace in the gang leader's eyes, causing Reina to let out a friendly smile.

"I'm very sorry if this is too sudden, but you won't mind having me for tonight, right? I would like to stay, if it's possible. " Reina kindly stated, though her words clearly left no room for rejection or disapproval, not like Dadan and the others would even dare. They just felt quite unsettled, since Reina wasn't really much of a simple character.

"Yay! Nee-chan got to stay!" Luffy suddenly cheered, not even waiting nor caring for Dadan's reply.

"Shut the hell up you little brat!!" Dadan yelled, glaring at Luffy, who only stick his tongue out at Dadan, causing the Gang Leader to feel a lot more irritated.

Reina smiled, chuckling in amusement. She  did noticed that when Dadan physically hurt Luffy—though not that hard— Ace would react and Sabo would silently frown with eyes silently gazing sharply at the person. However, the two were completely indifferent when it was just words thrown at the youngest. Reina slightly smirk, interested to know if this kind of treatment only works in Dadan's case or to everyone around.

She knew one thing though— No physical punishment towards Luffy else this two would retaliate.

When they finished eating, Reina laugh at how Dadan actually throw the three kids inside the bathroom, yelling at them not to come out till they counted 1-to-1000.

"So..."

Looking at Reina, who's twisted smile isn't hidden any longer, Dadan frowned a little. What could the famous business woman needs in their little home?

Dadan didn't beat around the bush, sending a calm but cold look at Reina, "Speak what you wanted."

If she thought that Reina is just merely a friend of Luffy, she wouldn't become that much serious about it. After all, Luffy is the son of the worst criminal in the world in this Generation, and considering that Luffy has the kind of natural talent to befriend dangerous people, Dadan considered it wasn't much a surprise for the kid to be able to befriend the big-shot sitting in front of her.

However, Dadan wasn't ignorant when the kids acted different. Luffy, this morning when they all came back, is more enthusiastic and was even jumping around. Ace and Sabo, too, is silent and look at lost. She immediately thought something happened, and it the smile in Reina's smile told her something really did happen.

"My, so fast to catch-up about something fishy. Don't you want to talked this over a cup of tea, Dadan-san?" Reina smiled, turning her head away.

Dadan scowled and turn to Dogra, "Oi, bring us sake here!"

Reina smiled. She doesn't really thought she'll confront Dadan this early, but her work is calling her and it was clearly located in the country of Grand Line. She can't afford to stay here any longer. So she have to abandon the plan to get to know the three for a month and take them if she they are really that nice to have—which makes her laugh since she did realize that she doesn't need a month to think, just a day is enough.

When Dogra placed down two cups, he was about to pour sake to Reina's cup when Reina herself held into the bottle's neck and smiled at Dogra— who she considered the most closest gang member to her. Dogra pause and look at her.

Reina shakes her head, "I'll pour it myself, Dogra-san. Just sit here, I also want you to listen to what I'm about to say." She said, and wordlessly pour the two cup. She watched how Dogra glance at his boss, who never tear her gaze away from Reina.

When Dogra silently sat down, with him motioning Magra to come and join—which Magra did without a word, Reina smiled.

"I hope you're not offended with the sake. That's all we could offer." Dadan one-shot drank the whole sake from the cup, and Reina just chuckled.

"You don't have to offer me anything... "

Dadan frown, "Oh, is that right?" 

Reina's eyes narrowed at the red cup. She saw her reflection in the sake and the slightly twisted smirk on her face, which she can't seem to take off no matter how hard she tried, so she just let the smirk on her face be. She held into the cup, bringing it into her lips as she took a sip. The bitter-sweet taste assaulted her mouth, bringing the nostalgic feeling that she always experience whenever Shanks would invite her over—vice-versa.

"The sake taste good." Reina complimented after she put down the cup. Dadan glance down, and saw that Reina drank half of it, before she looked and saw the eyes of Reina. She did saw that Reina is saying it genuinely, so she shrug her shoulder.

"Making supplied us with sake." Seeing Reina pause, Dadan raise an eyebrow.  "We're paying her, of course."

Hearing that, Reina chuckled and shake her head. " No, that's not what I'm thinking."

Dadan clearly misunderstood, thinking that because they're Gangsters, they're scaring Makino into giving them some sake.

"I was just surprise you knew her. She never mentioned anything about Gangsters working as caretakers. " Reina joked, causing Dadan to huff.

"That's not my choice." Dadan muttered silently, remembering how Garp threatened her to take care of Ace, then there comes Luffy next—in which the two brought in Sabo and she, having that soft spot for kids, can't really refuse the kid's smile, so she ended up agreeing letting the kid in her care.

"Well, can I asked..." Dadan look at Reina, who have a smile in her face as she stared coldly at Dadan. "Dadan-san...do you care for them?"

"What do you want from them?" Dadan Immediately reacted, tone not sounding even a little bit friendly—cold and angry even.

Reina raised an eyebrow in surprise. Luffy would complain about his caretaker a lot, but watching the strange way of exchanging affections between the two— even though it's filled with ear-pain yelling, Reina could clearly see the care and love.

What amused Reina is how fast Dadan changed into such terrifying woman at the thought of having the three hurt.

"You don't have to worry."

Reina completely changed the atmosphere around her with a calm smile, though her eyes spoke for her as she stared at Dadan with such seriousness and determination.

"I wouldn't hurt any of them, not that I can. Besides, Luffy is Shanks friend, and my friend's friend is also my friend. " She calmly explain, not saying anything else as she waited till Dadan's cold and unfriendly atmosphere disappeared.

It took a while, but eventually, Dadan managed to placed her trust into the mercenary, but still kept her wariness on check.

"So what exactly do you want?" Dadan asked.Reina sigh, but a smile still remained on her face.

"Dadan-san.......
