Six Month's Later
Neutral POV
Every 4.2 seconds a baby is born. All over the world, new people are constantly coming into the lives of their families.
On October third two women were being rushed to the hospital, one in London, one in New York. Neither of the father's were present. Both of them were in California.
Paige Freeman, our New York mother, was being taken to the hospital by her roommate, Charlie Raymond. Eleanor Calder, our Londoner, was being brought by her mother who had come to visit when her fiance had gone to the states.
"Call. Louis," Eleanor commanded her mother through clenched teeth as a contraction surged through her body. The baby was coming soon.
She dialed from the back of the cab. He picked up after the first ring. "Hello?"
"Eleanor is in labor."
"Finally!" he shouted. The baby had been due three days ago.
Eleanor grabbed the phone out of her mother's hand to yell at her fiance. "Get your ass on a plane and get over here. I can't do this with out you."
"I'm getting in a cab right now. How are your contractions?" Louis asked. His mother was a nurse and he used to help her out with the babies, so he semi knew what he was doing.
"Horrible. I feel like I'm being ripped in half. I've only had a few though. And their pretty spaced out."
"Did your water break yet?"
"Of course it did! Otherwise we, oh God!" she exclaimed as she had another contraction.
"I'll stay on the phone with you until I have to get on the plane," Louis said. Eleanor found comfort in his words. "Just think, in a few hours we could have a little Nathaniel Oliver."
"Or Jennette Elaine."
~
"Your doctor told you to rest!" Charlie protested as the two girls stepped into the elevator to go for a walk.
"I'm not just going to sit around waiting for my water to break!" Paige protested.
"I don't think you have to!" Charlie exclaimed.
"What do you mean?" Paige asked her as the doors popped open. Then she felt it, her water had just broke.
"Get into a cab and wait for me. I'll run back up and get your bag."
Paige stepped out of the elevator and walked as fast as she could out to get a cab to the hospital. It was raining, so hardly any cabs were open. Soon Charlie appeared at her side.
"Hey!" she screamed at a man who was about to get into a cab. "My friend here is in labor! I need to get her to the hospital ASAP so move!" He looked terrified, but let them in anyway. "Hospital, and please step on it," she said to the driver.
~
"The plane is about to take off. I'll see you in ten hours. Just hang in there."
"I love you. Lou please hurry, I can't do this alone."
"You're not alone, your mum is there. And you're strong. You'll make it though this. I love you too," and with that he hung up.
"Mum, I can't do this," she panicked leaning into her pillows.
"Stop saying that sweetheart. Yes you can. Do you need anything?"
"Yeah, Louis."
~
"I need Liam here," Paige whispered to Charlie.
"You know that that's not possible. My mom and Courtney are on their way from L.A. They'll be here soon."
"But I can't do this with out him."
"Hey, I'm here. We'll be fine."
"Alrighty then," a doctor said coming through the door. "Let's see how many centimeters you're at. Looks like, five. You're half way there. Looks like your labor will be pretty short."
"Thank God. Oh shit!" she groaned as a contraction shot through her. They had been here for three hours already.
~
"Eleanor, you have to push now!" the doctor told her.
"Not without Louis!" she shouted back. Finally she couldn't help it. She pushed.
"Breathe El," her mom coached from beside her.
"Ahhhhhh!" Eleanor screamed as she pushed again.
"I'm here!" Louis shouted bursting through the door.
"You. Bastard!"
"I know, baby. I know. Push, come on you can do this."
"Ughhhhwahhhhhhhh!" after the last push the cries of a baby could be heard.
Louis moved so that he could see his baby and said "Oh El, he's beautiful."
After the chord was cut and he was cleaned up a nurse set him on Eleanor's chest. "Oh my God," she whispered. "He's perfect. Hi Nathaniel, hi baby," she said waving a finger at him. He squirmed slightly and opened his eyes. "He has your eyes, Lou."
They stood fawning over their new baby for over an hour.
~
"Push, Paige. Push!" Marie urged. Courtney and Charlie were waiting outside.
"I. Am." she said.
"We have a head," the doctor said. "And there's the shoulders. One more push Paige, just one more!"
"Ahhhhh!" Paige exclaimed. Soon her screams were overtaken by those of her baby.
"Congratulations, it's a girl."
"She's beautiful," she said, accepting her baby.
"Do you have a name?" one of the nurses asked.
"Gracelyn. Gracelyn Marie." she said, never breaking eye contact with her daughter, whose eyes were so mush like her fathers.
