Liam's POV

"If you like her that much just ask her out!" Harry yelled at me for the hundredth time tonight.

"A few hours ago you were trying to set me up with Maryn's friend," I grimaced and sent an apologetic look towards Maryn who was wrapped around Harry. "Why are you so interested in setting me up with someone?"

"We all hate seeing you upset," Niall said.

"Ever since Briar passed you haven't really been happy," Zayn inputted.

"Hazza here is just trying to help," Louis said as he messed up Harry's hair.

"Well thanks I guess," I said. "El, you know her better than the rest of us do. Should I ask Paige out?"

"I don't know, Liam," she sighed. "She's a lot like Briar. Hell, they even look a bit a like. Won't that be weird for you?"

"She's the only girl I've felt anything towards since Briar passed."

"If you like her that much, then yes. Ask her out."

I sat down on the couch and put my head in my hands. What was wrong with me? I never over thought this sort of thing. I'm not the shy type of guy.

Eleanor was right though. Paige looked almost exactly like Briar, it's the first thing I had noticed about her. Maybe El was right, maybe that would be weird for me.

Paige's POV

Ding dong

I hurried towards the door with Grace on my hip. I opened the door to see Eleanor, a blond girl who looked weirdly familiar and six boys.

"Come on in," i said, taken back a little. I had been expecting Eleanor and Nate, but the rest of the boys, not so much.

"Thank you so much for watching Nate," Eleanor said.

"No problem," I told her, putting Grace down so that she and Nate could go play. I couldn't have the boys see to much of her, although it didn't take long to realize that she looked exactly like Liam. "Can I offer you guys something to drink?"

"Thank you, but we really should be going," Eleanor said as she stepped back towards the door.

"Who was at the," Charlie trailed off as she walked into the room and saw who had come in.

"Charlie?" all of the boys asked in unison.

"Umm," she sent a questioning and pleading glance at me. I shrugged, not really being able to help her. "Yeah," she finally said. "It's nice to see you guys again."

"You too," Zayn said. "I thought that you went to school in California though?"

"I transfered out here."

"You guys know each other?" I asked.

"Yeah," Niall said. "We met," he paused, "a, a few years ago."

A wave of discomfort went through the room. Everyone was silent for a minute. Thankfully Liam broke the silence.

"We really should get going. It was nice seeing you again."

With that he turned and left. Ever since he had seen Grace he seemed a little uncomfortable. He was never supposed to meet her, I was never supposed to see him again. Obviously, he had seen the resemblance.

"We'll meet you out in the car," Louis said to Eleanor, kissing her cheek. The rest of the boys and Maryn followed him out of the door.

"Here you go," Charlie said handing me a dress bag. I hadn't realized until then that she had slipped out of the room.

"What's this for?" I asked.

"You're coming with us," Eleanor said. "Go get dressed."

"What? I can't come with you!" I looked at two of my best friends. What were they thinking? If I spent too much time with Liam I would probably, no not probably, definitely want to get back together with him. I couldn't let that happen, the safety of our daughter depended on it. I pushed the dress back at Charlie. "I can't."

Charlie took the bag back and unzipped it. "If you don't go for you, then go for me. I want my best friend happy." She pulled out a pastel lace Valentino. I gasped and both Eleanor and Charlie laughed.

"Or go for the dress," Eleanor joked. "You can't keep it if you don't come." I snatched the dress and stuck my tongue out at them. "Hurry up, we have to go ASAP!"

I slipped into my room and pulled the dress on. It was gorgeous and fit perfectly. Then I grabbed my pale tan Oxford heels and a pale yellow necklace and out them on. I hadn't taken off my makeup yet, so I just added a bit more, the dress was demure so I didn't need much.

I walked back into the living room and grabbed my coat. "You ready?" I asked Eleanor.

"Yeah, let's go! Thanks for watching the kids, Charlie. you're going to thank me for making you come," she said to me.

"Bye," I said to Charlie. "And no, I won't." I actually was looking forward to this, I just wasn't going to tell anyone.

~Three Hours Later~

"Thanks again for letting me tag along," I said, patting Liam's leg as I slid out of the limo. "I had a really great time," I looked straight into his eyes when I said it, even though I meant it for everyone.

"Stop flirting and let me get my son!" Eleanor shouted at us, hitting the back of my head.

Everyone laughed and Liam and I turned bright red. This night helped remind me of exactly why I fell in love with him in the first place. I had spent so much time over the past two years trying to forget about him, and now I never wanted to have to do that again.

Eleanor and I started up to mine and Charlie's apartment in the elevator. "Thank you," I whispered to her as I stuck my key into the apartment door.

"I told you so," she smirked.

I shook my head at her and opened the door, expecting to see Charlie passed out on the couch. The scene that met my eyes was completely different.

All of the furnature was overturned and ripped. The curtains were torn off of the window and lamps were smashed. Eleanor and I looked into each others eyes, hers were so wide they looked like they might fall out.

Simultaneously we both started running towards Grace's room, where I had set up the Pak-in-Play for Nate. Everything in the apartment was wrecked, torn apart, thrown around.

I wrenched the door open and dashed to the crib by the wall. The blankets were empty. There was no sign of Grace anywhere. I felt tears of fear and pain fall from my eyes as I slipped down to the floor. I knew that Nate must be gone too, Eleanor had let out a shriek of pain and collapsed seconds after me.

My worst fears were coming true. The nightmare that had plagued me since Grace was born, it was here.

The door slammed shut and someone wearing dark clothes stepped out of hiding. "Didn't think we would find you? Shay, Shay, Shay," he made a tsk noise and shook his head.

"Who are you?" I asked even though I was beyond caring and already knew. I knew where he was from, I knew who had sent him, that was enough.

He laughed and snapped his fingers. Suddenly everything went black as a bag was thrown over my head. Like last time I slowly felt myself slipping out of consciousness, although this time I didn't try to fight it.

In the dreamless sleep I was about to go into I wouldn't remember that I had lost my daughter, I wouldn't know that everything that I held dear to me had just been taken away.
