"Guy, this thing is painful naw, your hand is too tight" She whines
"So I should make it loose so the hair can start falling by tomorrow shey?, I don't even know why you didn't just go to the salon"
"I told you naw, my mum refused to give me money"
I hiss loudly, this girl likes to waste money
"Why would she give you gan?, The hair you loosened is not even up to three weeks"
"I was tired of that color naw, I wanted to try a new one"
I let go of the hair I was braiding and burst out laughing
"Oya, what's funny?"
"So you decided to buy purple?, How did you even know I could make braids?"
We were currently in Feyi's room, it was Saturday so Feyi invited me over so I can make her hair, I don't even know if she has sense
She just made her hair about three weeks ago then she loosened it and said she wanted to make another one, her mum is even chilled, if I was her mother, I would have slapped her
"You told me naw, that day I called you during the last summer, you said you've been going to the hairdressing salon during the weekends and the owner of the salon is Aunty Lola's friend, so you learnt a lot of things" She explains
"I regret telling you, see what you're putting me through" I remark as I push her head forward so I can finish braiding the back
"Be careful naw"
"Shut up, I'm almost done"
"How did you buy the purple attachment sef?" I inquire "I thought you didn't have money"
"I actually had 3k before from savings then I naw begged my dad for 2k and he gave me, so I had money to buy the attachment but I could not make it in the salon"
"Oh"
I hear voices downstairs
"Who are those ones making noise?"
"Oh, I thought they won't come again sef"
"Ehn?, What are you saying?, Who are the they?"
"Timi, Bridget and the rest naw"
"Why are they here?" My eyes widen
"They always come over most Saturdays" She shrugs "And we're going to ICM today, so we'll all go together from here"
"And you could not tell me?, Why did you naw make me come today, I could have done it tomorrow"
"Abeg, they wanted you here besides-" She's cut off by the door opening
"I never knew you were a fighter o, kai" Yemisi's annoying laughter resounds through the room
Nmesoma hisses
"So I should have allowed him to chop my money, I had to collect my change o"
I watch as Lanre hugs Feyi, he then fist- bumps me
"Dieko, are you the one making the hair?" Bridget asks as she takes the long purple braids between her fingers
"Yeah"
"You tried o, it's so neat"
"Thanks"
"I can make better than that" Yemisi says
I've had enough of this girl
"What did you say?" I turn around to face her
"It's not that neat, I can make better than that"
"Seriously?, I thought you said you don't know how to make hair" Timi speaks up
"Me?, I never said that o, maybe you heard something else"
I almost burst out laughing, this girl just wants to be good at everything
"Ehen Feyi, come and give us money, let's go and buy something naw" Nmesoma says
Feyi eyes her through the mirror in front of her
"Money from where?"
"Shebi we're your guests, me I'm hungry, I did not eat before leaving the house today"
"Why?" I ask
"Since my mum travelled, my dad has just been cooking rubbish, me I cannot come and eat poison o"
"Remind me never to come to your house" Lanre laughs
"Are we still on for ICM?" Timi asks "If we are, let's start going, it's already past 11"
"I'm done" I announce as I finish the last braid on Feyi's head, I make to pack it but she stops me
"Ah please, do you want me to kill me?, Don't pack it abeg, the hair is already too tight" She mutters
"Is Dieko coming with us to ICM?" Yemisi asks
"Ehn naw, she's our friend too" Lanre says in an obvious tone
Chaii, sorry for you Yemisi, your plan can not work
