I've had this idea for a while, and I might publish this story later, but I wanted to put it here anyway.
This is a Watcher AU.
By the way, I'm pretty sure this isn't canon, but it's an AU for a reason.
So basically, Grian is Watcher Z, the last watcher to join, this is pretty standard.
But then, my mind was like, What if Mumbo was Watcher Y and Sam(From YHS) was Watcher X.
I believe that this was subconsciously inspired by Watcher AUs were Watcher Y was also forced to be a watcher, but they didn't expand on that concept.
Here's the AU events:
~YHS starts~
●Sam ends up getting watcher magic from something
●Sam accidentally gives Grian some of these powers
●Sam ends up pushing Grian into a portal that sends him to an uninhabited Evo
~YHS ends~
●Grian manages to accidentally teleport some people into Evo
~Evo starts~
●Sam sets his eyes on a temporary solution to get Grian on his side
●Mumbo gets trapped in his own head with Sam in control
●Mumbo joins the watchers
●Grian starts getting nightmares that eventually lead him towards the Watchers base
~Evo ends~
●Grian gets trapped in his own head with Sam in control
●Grian joins the Watchers
●Grian and Mumbo break Sam's control temporarily
●They go to Hermitcraft because Mumbo knows were it is and knows that the Hermits have no past with Grian
~HC season 6 starts~
●Sam manages to stay in Grian and Mumbo's heads and starts torturing them
~Fic Starts~
(You can mess around with the events in the timeline. This is just how I would do it)
Here are some Extra notes to clarify some things.
Mumbo was also incognito in Hermitcraft when he was being controlled by Sam and in his Watcher training, so the Hermits didn't know that Mumbo had been doing stuff in other servers.
Watchers have the ability to get inside people's minds. This is how Sam was able to get in Grian and Mumbo's head.
When Grian summons Taurtis, he is using his magic to bring him back to life.
