Sunset

Minju went on an impulsive room service spree. I didn't understand why she asked me to prepare some drinks in the first place if she would end up doing this.

"Love, be careful. You might get scolded. This is a lot." I said, onlooking the mountains of snacks and drinks. She even bought wine.

"Relax. It's on a tab- Oh." I guess she forgot what a tab was. "Your company's paying for that." I said.

"I'll... I'll handle it." She says, fidgeting with her hands. She obviously didn't think how she'd pay for this stuff when she bought them. I held her hands. They were very freezing. It was probably because of the AC but it was still very cold.

"I can pay too. No problem. Let's just enjoy our time." I said, trying to avoid any more worries.

We got to the pool side where Nako and Chaewon were sitting by the edge of the pool. Hyewon and Hitomi sat on the lounge seats under the shade.

We walked out unto the porch with the drinks Minju "bought". The other girls' eyes lit up as soon as they saw the drinks. I handed out some of the drinks which were mainly beer cans and an oddly specific single sprite. "Oh, that's for me!" Minju says, grabbing the sprite out of my hand.

I handed out the beer to Hitomi and Hyewon who were right next to me. They sat close to eachother for some unknown reason. It seemed as if they were talking about something discretely.

Hyewon looked flustered, seeing me peeking over Hitomi's shoulder. She looks away as I handed the first beer to Tomi. She didn't look at me so I held the beer out with my hand for a long time till she noticed me. "Psst. Hyewon." Hitomi whispers, making Hyewon turn. She looked down at the beer and swiped it out of my hands. "Thank you..." She says with a soft voice, avoiding eye contact with me.

What's with her today? She's been so awkward with me since she stepped through that door.

I brushed it off and gave the other beers to Chaewon and Nako. "Thank you, honey." Chaewon says jokingly, holding a beer up as she thanked me. Minju and I laughed while the visitors didn't really get it and were quite surprised.

Chaewon sees Nako's confused face. "What?" She asks. Nako replies. "Really? Honey? In your dreams." She low key disses Chaewon.

"What do you mean? I could totally date Y/N if it were possible." She says to Nako with such a loud voice. "Right, Y/N & Minju?" She turns around to look at us. Minju leaned against the pole while she drank her sprite. She smiles. "Sure."

"See?" Chaewon looks back at Nako with greater confidence.

I see that Minju was just staring at the sea. "Love." I called for her. She didn't hear me the first time. She was too focused. I wondered why.

I stepped to her side, making her notice me. She looks at me sipping the sprite. "I thought you wanted to go swimming?" I asked.

"This view..."

"It's so beautiful." She says. I realized the sun was already setting and I haven't touched the water once. "The sun is setting, babe. We can admire it from the pool." I said.

She gets puts aside her Sprite and walks with me towards the pool. Nako and Chaewon had their chins on the edge of the infinity pool, admiring the sunset.

"You guys! Come here!" Nako calls for the others. We dipped our feet in the water, being greeted by the cold breeze and the low water temps. It was indeed refreshing. I took a beer from the side of the pool and opened it as I submerged myself deeper into the water.

Hitomi and Hyewon walked towards the pool from behind, following us towards the end of the pool.

We all lined up at the edge, just staring at the horizon. You could see the shadows of the birds casting darkness unto the blue waters. This is like a healing retreat. I never expected it to be so therapeutic. 

Hitomi stood beside me while Minju stood on the other side. Nako and Chaewon were on the farther end of Minju while Hyewon stood next to Hitomi. It was like that DIA summer swimsuit photos where they lined up next to the pool wall.

"This is nice." Hitomi says, holding her beer can over the edge of the pool. "Can't we do this all the time?" Nako says.

"We'll probably be disbanded by the time we do this again..."Hyewon says from the far end, causing all of us to be silent.

"Ya- Why would you say that at this moment?!" Chaewon asks with subtle frustration. "We have to accept it, guys." Minju says, taking a sip of her sprite.

"This thing won't last forever."

"We'll all find our own separate ways in a year or two."

"Woah.. Why are you making the mood so emotional." Nako says with a lighter and lower tone. Surprisingly she was already through her second beer can.

"I'll miss you guys." Hyewon says. Oh god. Why do I feel emotional? I'm  not even part of the group.

I could hear Hitomi sniffle from the side, causing me to laugh a bit. "Hitomi~ Are you crying? Hahaha.." Minju asks with a little laugh.

"I'll be back in Japan by then.. *sniffle* I won't get to do things like this there." She says. 

"Oh shit. I'm ending up there too. Aaaahhhh." Nako says with her late realization.

"Just remember guys..." Minju starts off her monologue.

"I'll always have you guys in my heart. You guys are the best thing that has happened to me so far..."

"Well.. After Y/N of course." She says, causing the others to laugh a little.

The mood was intensely emotional at that point. You could hear the others start to sniffle too. I was in the middle of a premature farewell party and I didn't know how to react. But I had to admit.. It was quite sad. I can't imagine these guys breaking up in the future.

The sun finally sets, the darkness now filling the sky as the stars start to reveal themselves little by little.
