'til we meet again

This whole cure thing is making my head ache. The people on the radio said it was a choice. But I knew, I knew, adults would force those younger to give it up. We'll never be safe. I've accepted my powers as who I am and I'm not giving that up.

Ryan noticed my fear and placed his hand on my shoulder, "We won't give up are powers if we don't want to." Gabriel and Layla nodded.

"It's not just that. Adults won't always respect the children's choices. They will take away their powers because of even the smallest thing. Plus what happened with my parents. They gave me up without a second thought. Kids will be suffering and I can't bare that on my conscience." A tear ran down my cheek.

"Sasha," I looked at Gabriel, "I've lived alone for years but this bunker has room for almost a hundred people. Layla told me about the mall. We could do something like that here. We can't let anybody through but we could come up with a plan to let people like us in." I nodded.

"If this is going to be a new home for others, we'll need supplies. The garden can grow so we can have more food. We still have enough time to find a mall nearby, grab supplies, and get back here before adults start looking for psi." Layla explains.

Gabriel had a map of the bunker plus a map of the nearby area. There was a city just a few miles away with a target that should have the supplies needed.

Ryan and I would go while Layla and Gabriel stay. I'm going because I can gather girl supplies and if we do bump into adults, I can mess with their memory.

Our car ride is very quiet. But it was a peaceful quiet. Ryan held my hand and I watched the scenery change from trees to buildings. We arrive at the target in barely 10 minutes.

We see another car in the parking lot. One I recognize from over a year ago. Black Betty.

I look at Ryan and he seemed to recognize it too. We rushed out of the car and into the store. The lights were on and I counted 5 bodies inside.

We walked inside carefully, just in case it wasn't the gang. Zu looked over to us and smiled.

"Sasha! Ryan!" She ran and hugged me. I gasped hearing her voice. The other people heard Zu and came over. I saw Chubs, Liam, and two other girls I didn't recognize.

We all hugged each other and I was introduced to the other two girls. Ruby and Vida. Ruby was the one who freed Thurmond and ended up injured because of it.

"What are you doing here?" I asked them.

"One last adventure. We're probably gonna be working with the government on rebuilding the world after this. What about you? I figured you never went home when I heard about the mall. But I heard it fell. I also don't see Layla. What's going on with you guys now?" Chubs answered.

"We found a new home. Layla's waiting there. We came here for supplies." Ryan responded. He didn't tell them we're helping others. Why?

"Well, carry along. It's good to see you. I hope we can keep in contact." Liam smiled. I nodded in return.

We grabbed supplies. Zu was talking with me the whole time, telling me about what happened to her after we separated. I told her what happened with us as well.

When it was time to go, we all hugged each other again. I noticed while the rest were distracted, Liam pulled Ryan aside and talked to him. They came back before the others noticed. We went back to the car and headed back to the bunker.

"What did Liam want?" I asked.

"He has a way to contact us. He said he won't use it until needed." Ryan pulled out a phone from his pocket and handed it to me.

"That was nice of him." I take the phone and place it in the back seat with some of out supplies, "But why didn't we tell them we were helping others?"

"If their government, they'll stop us from hiding kids. I trust Liam and I know he would want to help kids to which is why I kept the phone but I don't know about the others."

"I understand. We know them now, but we don't their futures."

"Yeah. Anyways, we're almost home. Then, we can help others again."
