Marinette came to school the next day without her usual smile. Of course no one could blame her. She just found out that her boyfriend had been cheating on her. And who knows how long it was going on for, or if it was the first time.
Adrien did his best to give her some space, but he couldn't help but watch her throughout the day. She was undoubtedly hurting. She was behaving normally, but the beautiful spark of life in her eyes was gone. His heart ached at thinking about what terrible thoughts were probably going through her mind.
He was beyond relieved when Marinette asked to speak with him at the end of the day. Now he would have the chance to reassure her of exactly how loved she was.
She waited until the other students left the room before she began speaking. "Adrien, I wanted to thank you for what you did for me yesterday. I know it must have been really difficult to tell me what you saw. And I feel horrible that you were caught up in all of this. I'm so sorry."
Adrien moved close to her. "Marinette, you don't have to apologize. None of this was your fault."
"But I do need to apologize to you. You were just trying to help me and I called you a liar." She looked down at her feet. "I knew in my heart that you were telling the truth, but I didn't want to believe it. I'm sorry" she said quietly.
Adrien put his hand under Marinette's chin, lifting her head back up so she was looking at him. "Don't you ever be sorry. You're so amazing."
Her eyes widened in surprise. "You really think so?" she whispered.
"Yes I do" he replied nodding. He stared into those bluebell eyes of hers.
Adrien slowly pulled Marinette towards him and he closed his eyes as he kissed her gently on her lips.
It was a sweet and simple kiss, but it was full of love.
Moving back and opening his eyes, Adrien looked at Marinette.
A small smile crossed her lips as she looked back at him.
************************************
Luka was taking a shortcut through the park when he saw her. Marinette was sitting on the grass surrounded by a bunch of her friends.
It was the first time he had seen her in about three months. The last time had been the day she punched him in the face and told him to never go near her again.
And she looked gorgeous. Especially since she had her hair down.
After debating in his mind for a minute, he decided to go over and talk to her. Who knows, maybe she had gotten over what had happened and would finally give him another chance. He would be lying if he said that he still didn't think about her often.
Silence fell over the group as he approached them.
Marinette was the first one to speak. "Hey Luka" she said.
He felt relieved. She was actually talking to him.
"Hey Marinette, how are things?" he asked.
"They're good. What about you?"
"I'm good" Luka said. He turned towards Alya and Nino. "Hey guys."
"Hi Luka" Alya said, narrowing her eyes at him. "Where's Victoria?" she asked.
Luka's face fell. "Oh, um... me and Victoria aren't seeing each other anymore" he mumbled, shifting his feet.
"Well that's too bad. You two seemed so happy together" Alya continued sarcastically, ignoring the death stare from the blunette sitting next to her.
There was silence again before Luka turned to Marinette. "Would it be okay if I, uh... talked to you for a minute?"
"Sure" she said, standing up and walking away from the group with him.
"Yeah that's fine" Alya called out after them. "You already wasted five months of my best friend's life. What's another minute?"
Marinette turned back and glared at her as they walked.
"Look, I wanted to officially apologize for what happened" Luka said when they were alone. "I feel horrible about what I did to you."
"Let's just forget about it Luka" she told him. "What's done is done."
He nodded. "Thanks Marinette. You've always been so understanding." He smiled at her. "Um... so, I was wondering... I mean, if you're interested..."
He stopped talking as Marinette was suddenly lifted up and spun around. The boy who picked her up gently put her down, then turned her towards him and kissed her passionately, wrapping his arms around her.
"And how is my beautiful girlfriend doing today?" Adrien asked once he pulled back from their kiss.
"I'm doing just fine" Marinette replied, laughing.
"I'm sorry to keep you waiting. Fencing practice ran late" he explained.
"It's no problem."
"You're so wonderful" he said before leaning in and kissing her again.
She finally had to push him back. "Adrien, don't be rude" she scolded him playfully. "You interrupted what Luka was saying."
Adrien fained surprise as he turned towards the blue-haired boy. "Oh sorry man. I didn't even see you there."
"Don't worry about it" Luka mumbled, his face pale.
"I'm sorry, what were you saying?" Marinette asked him as Adrien put his arm around her shoulder.
"Uh... nothing" Luka replied. "I, uh... I was going to leave."
"Bye!" Adrien said quickly, guiding Marinette back towards the group.
She looked over at her boyfriend. "You didn't see him there?" she asked skeptically, raising her eyebrows at him.
"What?" Adrien asked innocently. "You know that I can't focus on anything else when you're around. You're very distracting."
Marinette bumped her shoulder into his before sitting back down on the grass. Adrien of course sat next to her.
