Chapter 10

Tomika

I just had a nightmare about my parents getting shot. Then everyone around me disappeared. I woke up and I was hyperventilating.

Z: What's wrong?

T: *Still hyperventilating

Zack pulls me into a hug. He rubs my back and I start breathing normally. I tell him about my nightmare. Telling him about how I don't want to be alone. How I don't want everyone to hate me, abandon me.

Z(Whispers): I'll always be here for you.

T(Softly): Thank you.

I like Zack. But he probably doesn't like me like that. I can't ruin our relationship. I go back to sleep.

TIME SKIP A FEW WEEKS

Zack

My crush on Tomika is only getting bigger. I feel very protective of her. I want to always be ther for her. She seems to be more open around me. She talks to me more now. She is no longer hiding her face behind a mask, and she no longer uses a voice changer. She says she can't sing, and that she can't help out the band, but I can't help but feel that she's lying.

S: We need a singer by the end of the month or the gig is off. AHHH!!!!

F: Babe, calm down. We'll find someone soon.

Z: I feel like Tomika can sing.

F: Really? She barely talks to me. What makes you think she can sing?

Z: When I ask her if she can sing, she keeps saying no, but I feel like she's lying, or hiding something.

S: How do we prove it?

Z: I don't know.

TIME SKIP 2 Days

Tomika

My nightmares are getting worse. Either Zack or Babe stay with me every night to calm me down. I need a break from everything so I head down to the basement and start writing a new song, called "Boulevard of Broken Dreams". Zack keeps asking me if I can sing, saying how the band needs a new singer, but I tell him I can't. I don't want to know that I'm Breanna Yde(Stage Name).

?: And you say you can't sing?

T: What are you doing here Zack?

Z: I was supposed to tell you to go to Game Shakers. So, you can sing?

T: I guess so.

Z: What was the song about?

T: My thoughts and feelings.

Z: We'll talk about that later. Can you be the lead singer of the band? And why do you sound familiar?

T: Well... You know the singer Breanna Yde, and the user online called ThisGirlSings? Well that's me.

Z: No wonder. You have to be the lead singer!

T: Fine. Let's go.

TIME SKIP

T: Hey Babe!

B: Hey!

Z: Did you know she can sing?

B: Who?

Z: Tomika.

B: Yeah, she creates all of our music! She even made the music video at our party.

Z: Really? Wow!

T: Why am I here?

B: To talk. Let's go upstairs.

We head to my room. She locks the door.

T: What did you wanna talk about?

B: You.

T: What about me?

B: You're nightmares. They were a lot like mine. But I got through them when you helped me. But you keep having them. I'm thinking of taking you to see a therapist.

T: What?!! No!!

B: Why not?

T: I don't trust those people.

B: But you're nightmares are starting to freak me out.

T: Let's talk about something else.

B: Oh. Yeah! Do you like Zack?

T: I don't know. I love him, but I don't want to give my heart to someone who might break it. It'll make me weak.

B: Deep. I'm always here for you okay?

T: Okay.

B: Let's go.

Babe

I decide to talk to Zack about Tomika.

Z: Hey!

B: I wanted to talk to you about Tomika. Do you like her?

Z: Uhmm.. yeah. In fact, I love her.

B: Well she told me that she loves you. But she doesn't want to give her heart away to someone who might break it. Her nightmares are also getting worse, but she doesn't want to see a therapist. She needs someone to rely on other than me and Trip. You should tell her how you feel.

Z: I'll consider it. I'm gonna talk to her about her nightmares though.

TIME SKIP

Zack said he wanted to see me. He's just arriving now.

T: Hey Zack!

Z: Hey. I wanted to tell you something.

T: Sure! What is it?
