"Okay." Gabby replied, smiled shyly. "When do you want to talk?"
"Tonight after the shop closes." Jordan said.
Gabby nodded, then she started to walk to the kitchen while Jordan was exhaling hard to release her big burden in her heart because of their situation.
She thanked god today was her day off from the bar so she could stay at home and doing nothing but thinking about her coffee shop. She didn't know what she was about to say to Gabby, but she just needed to tell her that she didn't need to call her 'Jordy' again because it reminded her of her past.
The day went well, Jordan started to help in the coffee shop again but she definitely spent her time by teaching Allie about what kindergarten was like. She needed to tell Gabby about Allie's school too, she was enough to go to pre-school.
Jordan was impressed by Allie's intelligent. The little girl knew the alphabet, basic math and some science knowledge. Gabby saw the interaction between her daughter and the woman who literally 'saved' her life and she found that Jordan was already okay with their situation even though they hadn't talked yet.
"Can I please request to Jordan to make my V60 order?" A black haired woman asked Gabby.
Gabby raised her eyebrows in confusion but then she nodded. "Y-yeah. Wait a second."
Brandon glanced at the customer, then his smile went wide once he knew who that woman was. But he kept quiet, fistbump-ing with the black haired woman and giggling together.
"Kate?" Jordan gasped. "What the hell?"
"Hi there, stranger." Kate, the dark haired woman, grinned.
"Oh my god!" Jordan nearly shouted.
She walked faster and hugged her best friend for seven years who knew all of Jordan's life story. Jordan hugged Kate longingly, she even cried when she remembered that Kate was the only person who understood her when Olivia died.
"I missed you so much." Jordan cried.
Kate smiled, she knew her best friend so well. "I missed you too, fuckface."
"Damn you!" Jordan pulled back, she wiped her tears off and chuckling. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"Surprise!" Kate laughed, Jordan punched her best friend's arm jokingly.
Gabby watched the interaction between the two woman in front of her and she didn't know that she felt a pang of jealousy when she saw Jordan hugged Kate longingly like her life depended on her.
"What do you want to drink?" Jordan asked Kate.
"Toraja V60, please." Kate answered. "And I want you to make it for me."
"Sure thing." Jordan kissed Kate's cheek before she walked to the counter.
Gabby was busy checking the payment, Kate checked her out and Brandon caught her eyes.
"Hey, she isn't available." Brandon commented.
Kate raised her brows tauntingly. She knew her capability, everyone bowed down to her, married women, straight women even teenagers could fall for her.
Brandon chuckled because he knew Kate's behavior. Brandon, Emma and Cass knew Kate was Jordan's best friend since forever because Kate would visit Jordan some of the time even though she lived in a different state.
She came to visit today because she missed Jordan and also Jordan didn't tell her everything for a month and she was curious as to why Jordan didn't text her, she was afraid that Jordan might be sick or something.
"Trust me, you won't mess with this one." Brandon said, smiling.
"And may I know why?" Kate crossed her arms over her chest, still taunting Brandon.
Brandon made a code with his eyes between Jordan and Gabby back and forth. Kate's jaw dropped, Brandon's laughter filled the cafe, thanked god it wasn't too loud.
"Are you shitting me right now little boy?" Kate asked in amazement.
"Nope." Brandon popped the 'p' while still laughing.
"Hey, there's a kid in there." Jordan warned Kate.
She didn't know that Brandon and Kate was talking about her because she was serious making a V60 for Kate, she thought maybe Kate and Brandon was talking about a customer or something.
"I'm sorry, Jordan. It won't happen again." Kate joked.
Jordan snorted. "Shut up. Go sit somewhere and I'll take this to you once I'm done."
"Okay." Kate agreed, but before she started to walk, Allie walked closer to them.
"Mommy?" Allie stood in front of the counter, calling her mom even though she couldn't see Gabby properly.
"Yes, baby?" Gabby leaned closer to her daughter and lifted her daughter up even though it was hard since she was standing behind the counter.
Kate's eyes bulged out. She mouthed a 'what the fuck' to Brandon and Brandon shrugged and suppressed his laughter.
"I want ice cream." Allie pouted.
Kate was suddenly interested. She stood a few feet away to listen the conversation around her, especially about her best friend and whoever that woman was.
"You already ate ice cream yesterday." Gabby said, kissing her daughter's cheek.
Allie frowned. Jordan was still making a V60 and she didn't hear the conversation between Gabby and Allie because she was focus on making a coffee for her best friend.
"Jordan?" Allie called.
"Yes, Allie?" Jordan turned her head to see the little girl frowning, finishing her V60.
"I want ice cream." Allie said.
Jordan smiled. "And what your mommy says about that?"
"A no?" Allie responded.
"Go ask her." Jordan said.
"Mom, can I have an ice cream today?" Allie asked Gabby.
"No, my baby. You can't have an ice cream two days in a row." Gabby replied.
Allie turned her head to see Jordan who was waiting for her. "Mommy said no."
"That means no." Jordan winked.
Allie's frown went deeper. Jordan shook her, she placed her hands on her hips, looking firmly to Allie to tell Allie 'drop the attitude' and Allie knew what that meant.
"What have I told you earlier, Allison?" Jordan used her full name which made Allie tilted her head down.
"Listen to what mom's words." Allie answered.
Jordan smiled. "Good girl. Now apologize to mommy."
"I'm sorry, Mom." Allie said to Gabby.
"It's okay, baby." Gabby replied, she mouthed a 'thank you' to Jordan.
Jordan nodded. She didn't know that Gabby adored her because she taught Allie so many things and heck, Allie even scarier to Jordan than to her own mother and Gabby was grateful because she wasn't alone to teach her daughter some knowledge in life.
Kate shook her her in amusement. She didn't realize Jordan had changed a lot in a month. Brandon made an eye contact with her and told her a 'told you' look towards her.
How in the hell could Jordan do that to that little girl? Jordan gained respect from Allie for sure, but what made Kate confused was how Jordan had moved on, finally and fully?
Jordan started to place Kate's order in a tray and she would serve her best friend. Kate never drank a V60 coffee from another barista at Jordan's coffee shop whoever they were because she always loved Jordan's magic hand.
When Kate sat down on the couch and Jordan placed the coffee on the table, Kate's words made Jordan surprised for a second and she didn't know what to say because she knew what exactly her best friend's words was referring to.
"You better tell me the detail."
