Maddie
My eyes are fluttering open and I realize I'm looking up at a wooden ceiling. I burst my eyes open quickly and try to move but I'm handcuffed to the mattress. My wrists are bright red and blistered. I must've been moving around in my sleep. How long have I been knocked out for? All I remember is being grabbed by some random person and that's it.
It's cold and I realized I'm stripped down to only my bra and underwear. What pervert wants to strip me of clothes before locking me in cuffs? Was I... was I raped? Surely not. I would've remembered unless they drugged me. I look to the side of the bed and my clothes are scattered across the floor next to Ali's backpack. I look around the room trying to forget the idea that I might have just been raped. Maybe there's something nearby that I can use to cut myself lose. Hopeful thinking but there is nothing.
The room is bare and cold. The white washed walls are stained gray with mold. The tiled floor is spotted with dirt and there are old dusty wooden shelves that hold boxes that are taped shut. Cobwebs hang from the ceiling creating symmetrical patterns. The only light is coming from a door that leads to an upstairs that is slightly cracked open. It must be morning now. There's another door to the right of me but I have no clue where it leads.
I hear someone coming from upstairs and I immediately tense up. I see a pair of grey tennis shoes travel down the steps and I look up shocked to see who's there.
"I see that you're awake now," his voice is chilly and my stomach sinks as I hold back tears.
"JASON!" I'm frightened but also surprised. My holler echoes out.
Why is my boyfriend holding me hostage like this?
"What have you done to me? Why am I here and why did you tie me up?"
"I haven't done anything Maddie," Jason replies calmly.
"Then why don't I have my clothes on?"
"Well I was going to wait until you woke up to have the fun. It's no fun with a sleepy person now is it? I was only getting you ready for this moment," he says as he sits on the off white mattress.
Impulsively I shuffle my feet so my legs cover my body and put me in a ball in the small corner or the bed, my right arm extends across where one of the hand cuffs is holding me down.
"What's wrong you don't want me anymore?"
"You cheated on me! Don't touch me, please! Don't touch me!" Tears start streaming down my face and to my surprise, Jason rises from the bed and walks a distance from me.
"Maddie you're safe with me. I brought you here to keep you away from those people you were with. You are safe now. Nothing can get to you."
"If I'm so safe with you then why am I tied up?"
"I only want to protect you from what's out there. If I let you go, you'll leave and you'll die out there."
"LET ME GO!" I scream hoping someone will hear me. I begin tugging at the bars of the bed. It's not like it will do anything but it makes me feel better. I start screaming at the top of my lungs and I try to break free but I give up. There's no getting out of here. It's no use.
Jason leaves the room and comes back with rope. He ties it around my head and puts it in my mouth. I can't stop kicking my legs and trying to get him but each time I miss. I close my eyes and another tear slowly trickles down my cheek.
"I'll save the fun for later. I'll be back," he kisses my forehead and I watch him leave the room until the door closes and I'm completely enveloped in darkness.
