Chapter 4- HeartBroken

We had left Wolverhampton and traveled to other cities in the UK and saw all the other amazing talents including meeting the judges too.

 Every day I would give Lily the chance to sing when I taught her music class but all she would do was play the burrowed guitar I took from one of the guitar players on the show.

 Lily and I over a couple of days were bonding extremely well and nothing out of the ordinary that was dangerous to her happened. Lily and Liam were getting closer but I kept an eye on her because if her heart was broken by him I wouldn’t be able to fix it with a snap of my fingers even if I wanted too.

 All I could do was wait and pray that good luck would happen to her because after all the trouble that has already happened in her life she didn’t need any more of it. As I went into my room that was assigned to me I noticed a guitar case and a letter on top of it. It read:  

“Dear Alex, I know that you want your sister to sing again so I decided to help you by giving you the guitar. Don’t give it to her now until the feeling in your gut tells you because this gift will help Lucy recover when her darkest hour of her life happens again. Sincerely Max”

  What did this mean by Lily’s darkest hour what was going to hurt her so bad and why wait to give her this gift.

After a few minutes of arguing over what Max wrote I decided to trust his judgment and wait because if this could help her recover in the future than I’ll do anything to make that happen.

After a few minutes of looking on where to hide this guitar so Lily wouldn’t be able to find it.

I decided to put it in the trap door at the very end of my closet that I had just found. It was just the perfect size to hide the guitar without Lily finding it by accident.

For extra measures I put a rug over it to hide the area the trap door covered.

My stomach started to grumble so I went to go find Lily to go have lunch together. What I came across was her and the same boy we met at the auditions.

“Hi, Liam and Lily” I said as I walked over to them to greet them.

An awkward silence happened until Liam broke it saying “lovely chat with you, Lily but I have to go bye, oh nice seeing you Alex” as he flicked his hair to the side trying to cover his face.

Once he left I made a singsong sound and said in a very girly way “Someone’s got a crush on little wittle Liam” I said as I burst into laughter right after.

“No I don’t, Okay maybe a little one but he’ll never go for me I’m too young for him” she said in a hushed voice.

“ Oh don’t give me that excuse, he totally likes you to,  did you not see that he blushes when someone joins your conversations because he’s embarrassed that someone will figure out that he likes you but everyone already knows that except you” I said bluntly.

 As I finished she blushed the color cherry on her cheeks so I decided to change the subject and asked to go for lunch for which she accepted replying yes.

2 weeks later

When we found out that Liam got through to the judges house Lily and I were overjoyed because the three of us had become best friends forever. We had celebrated by eating a box of pizza and playing video games on the Wii, Xbox 360 and etc.

It was probably the greatest night of our lives that year but when Liam got kicked off at the judge’s house by Simon Cowell he became a little bitter.

He had said some hateful things to Lily and I but what made me mad was that he didn’t realize that he didn’t seem to care about how mean and irrational he was being to us.

I knew I could handle the means words said by him but not Lily she never was good at hate said to her. I knew I couldn't use my powers against him or else my cover would be blown.

So while he screamed at us all I did was hug her and whisper to her ear“You are beautiful, You are strong, You are talented, Don’t let what he says get to you”.

She had cried for weeks and what made it worse is that when she sent an email to apologize which I thought was unnecessary he replied with an email that stated to never email or contact him again and to stay out of his life you bitch.

She was torn that the guy she liked wanted nothing to do with her, and all I thought was how I should’ve done something more to protect her I had failed, Here I come Hell I thought.

I deserved whatever punishment I kept thinking until I saw a flash beside me and saw Max. I flung my arms around him and sobbed into his shoulder.

“The guitar, Sing” he kept saying until he vanished. I stood there for a while until I realized what he meant. I could fix this I thought or I’ll die trying.

I ran to the closet and scrambled around to find the guitar and when I did I ran to Lily’s room. I turned the light on and called “Lily, are you there”.

I didn’t get a response but I somehow knew she heard me so I slipped onto the bed and started to play ‘Had a Bad Day’ by Daniel Powter.

When I finished the first chorus I could softly hear her sing with me like the old days and I knew that everything was going to be alright again.

After, that day we would sing every day that we could have the chance sad songs until slowly later on in the competition we sang happier songs.

Our sisterly bond was back and stronger than ever and I knew that she would be happy again.

We returned home when the X Factor finished and Aunt Lillian gave me the job of a babysitter for Lucy since I kept her out of trouble and helped her get over Liam.

I even went to school with her and stopped people from bullying her and any other victims. We both never mentioned or heard about Liam again until 2 years later when we joined Aunt Lillian on the X Factor once again where we came face to face with him.
