"Is it possible that I'll get an answer from you if I asked what's wrong?" Cassandra's dad asked as he drove her to school. Cassie watched the world become a blur. The car seemed to be getting faster and faster... the trees became houses and the traffic lights became the sun.
"I thought so." The car came to a halt. "I'll pick you up at three thirty."
Cassie nodded, becoming aware. "Uh, yeah." She looked at her dad with disorientation. "Yeah, I'll see you in the afternoon." Her tone was more grounded the second time she spoke. She left the car and walked up the stairs, entering her school.

I can be invisible guy, Justin thought as he walked to his locker. I mean, I've only been him for sixteen years. As soon as he was done with his locker he began to walk to his homeroom. At a glance, he thought he saw Brienna; Cassie's old friend. He didn't bother to stop or to certify his inkling. The students at the school were like Cassie's drive, to Justin; all a blur. All their faces seemed the same, and all their conversations became one. If only Justin took a second glance, he would have seen Cassandra.

"So what? I'm interesting to you now?" Brienna folded her arms as she leant against the wall.
"It's not that I didn't find you interesting," Cassie tried to explain to her friend. She paused for awhile, thinking about the night before. "I just... have been going through a lot. Kind of been in my own place lately."
"Nah, you don't say?" Brienna twisted her black hair around her finger. She looked up at Cassie with a newfound animosity. "Ya know you were actually cool to be around before." Do I want to ask before what? 'Before you became miss emo chick and hung around new guys." Cassandra's face must of shown her despair as he was mentioned. "What? Did the transfer kid get sick of your bullshit to?"
Cassie opened her mouth, but soon shut it. She clenched her jaw as she looked at Brienna. Was she always this bitchy? She started to walk off but soon stopped. "You know, I think you're going to regret that hairstyle when you're older." Cassie stood with her back facing Brienna. Brienna shaved half her hair off, only leaving the right side with long, black hair. "And when I say 'know', I know." Cassie continued walking.

"Now, I know how you kids like group work." Miss Kerr began her photography class by pacing the room. Miss Kerr was one of those laid back teachers that usually let their students run around and do their own thing. Most students loved her. Miss Kerr loved herself. She gave herself credit, always bragging to the other members of the staff, saying how she had the perfect balance of control and fun learning. Oh, how she's wrong. Justin thought, as he sat to the far left. He nestled his face in between his arms, already clocking out. "So in today's lesson, you're going to work in pairs," as soon as she said 'pairs,' everyone whispered to a friend across the room or pointed at them. Cassie whirled her head around the room, trying to find a possible partner to work with. Cassie's eyes pulled themselves back to see Justin paying no attention whatsoever. She found herself remembering the time when she visited him in hospital in the same position as he was in now. Even though we said we wouldn't speak to each other... Cassie chewed her bottom lip in thought. "You will have creative license over everything you shoot." Miss Kerr stood in front of Justin's desk. "Justin," she spoke with a tone of calmness. Calmness that could turn into destruction.
"Miss, can we work alone?" He asked, as he lifted his head off the table. Miss Kerr seemed surprised, and rather disappointed, that he was listening.
"Where's the fun in that?' She smiled and glided off to the next table. As soon as she finished explaining, the class was a room on fire. Justin and Cassie found themselves standing in front of each other in the midst of the fire.
"I know we said we wouldn't talk to each other..."
"But I'd rather work with you than any of these neanderthals."
They laughed in agreement. Cassie's nerves melted away as she saw his smile. You know, the shy one. Justin felt as though that lingered for too long. "But strictly work related." He clarified.
"Strictly." She nodded.
They sat at the back of the room, planning their project.
