Chapter 16: this is a bad idea

12:15 P.M.

Shinobu stood up from her seat and stretched. She just finished her check-up with a patient and is currently waiting for her last patient today. She went to her drawers and get her last patient’s medical charts.

After a few minutes, there was a light knock on her door that caught her attention.

“Good afternoon, Shinobu-san!” Nezuko ran up to her and hugged her. 

Shinobu giggled and hugged her back, “Good afternoon to you too, Nezuko,” Shinobu put her charts down as she greets her.

Shinobu was surprised when Tomioka was the one that accompanied Nezuko inside her office instead of Tanjirou.

“Eh? Tanjirou’s not with you?”

Nezuko hummed in agreement, “He’s getting ready with his date with Kanao-chan, I think.”

“Ara-ara,” Shinobu said amusement, “so that’s why Kanao was blushing madly earlier when I asked her where she’s going today,” Shinobu giggled as she gets her stethoscope.

“Kocho,” Tomioka acknowledged Shinobu.

“Hello, Tomioka-san,” Shinobu greeted back, “take a seat while I do my check up on Nezuko.” 

Her check up on Nezuko went smoothly. Her vitals showed progress in her health.

“This is great, Nezuko-chan,” Shinobu pinched Nezuko’s cheeks in which Nezuko giggled, “you’re ready to have your operation this week! Just make sure you’re eating healthy food and having enough rest, okay?” 

Nezuko nodded in understanding. Shinobu proceeded to inform them and make a schedule for Nezuko’s operation.

“Alright,” Shinobu started fixing her things in the table to get ready to clock out, “that sums up our session today.”

“Thank you so much, Shinobu-san!” 

“It’s a pleasure, Nezuko,” Shinobu said as she locks her drawers. 

Nezuko took notice of this, “If you don’t mind me asking, Shinobu san, are you perhaps, done for the day?” 

Shinobu hummed in agreement, “You’re my last patient today. Why, is there a problem Nezuko?”

“Then you won’t mind having lunch with us?” Nezuko used her charms on Shinobu.

Shinobu was taken aback at the proposal, “Well—I—uhh…” She shifted her eyes to Tomioka who was as surprised as herself, waiting if he will object and help her on the situation.

Tomioka got her signal once they locked eyes, however, his response was the opposite of what she was thinking, “It’s alright, Kocho. Come have lunch with us.” 

“But—” Shinobu’s eyes went back to Nezuko who were already looking at her with pleading eyes.

Shinobu sighed, “Alright, it already looks like you’re going to drag me with you if I declined,” She poked Nezuko’s cheeks.

“Yay!’ Nezuko beamed at her. 

“I’ll go get the car. Wait for me at the entrance.” 

And with that, Tomioka disappeared. Shinobu locked her office and went to Mitsuri’s to say goodbye. She knocked on her office and didn’t dare to step in. Instead, she poked her head on the door and said her farewell.

“Shinobu-chan, you’re going already?”

“Yup. I have a uhh… a lunch with someone.”
