Fitz-Simmons! This may be around season 1 of AoS?

ALSO IM SO SORRY THAT MY ONESHOTS ARE SO DETAILED LIKE I NEED TO STOP—

A Scottish engineer, his friends, and a money meet on a mission.

Fitz was bent low over the lab, head down and eyebrow furrowed. His hands were steady as they connected different colored wires from one point to another. The Scotsman didn't notice the sudden lack of air turbulence.

"Alright team," a voice started on the intercom system. "The Bus has landed, so everyone report to the docking area."

Fitz dropped the wire with a swift gasp. He eagerly grabbed his field bag, equipment already packed and ready to go, and exited the lab. However, he paused and went back for his best friend's bag too. Jemma would've already had it outfitted for the mission, so the Scotsman didn't worry about it.

Fitz's main priority: find a monkey.

He knew it wasn't the mission objective, but he also couldn't help himself. They were monkeys! Fitz had always wanted one, or to at least study a monkey in person, but unfortunately Jemma and the Academy had said no. Fitz was determined now.

He also had a feeling that Jemma would see the cute little thing, maybe stroke their ear...then fall in love with it and refuse to leave it. Skye might also feel the same way, even though her opinion wasn't as scientific or complicated as the biochemists. Ward and May would roll their eyes, although she would smirk at Coulson knowingly. Coulson...Fitz had no idea, but he'd always turned down the engineer on the monkey situation in the past, so it probably wouldn't be that different.

Running down the now open hangar, Fitz excitedly looked every which way for the furry little mammals. Jemma turned her head to the side questioningly, but didn't push the subject past assuming Fitz was fascinated with all the nature and plants and animals they were seeing — just like her.

Even when Fitz thought he saw a monkey, it usually just ended up being the furry or thorny part of a stray leaf. He frowned.

Jemma finally grew restless about halfway to the location of the 0-8-4 they'd been sent after. "What's up, Fitz?"

"Have you seen any monkeys? I've been looking all over!" The Scotsman blurted out.

Jemma shook her head and replied, "Nope, but I'll help you look."

He smiled at her — Jemma Simmons. He saw the twinkle in her eyes, the one that always seemed to drag him into an intense gaze, unable to break it in fear of losing her forever.

She smiled at him — Leopold Fitz. She saw the way his smile radiated kindness and compassion, and whether it was for those around them or love for his field of work, Jemma didn't know.

What they did know...was that it was love.

Somewhere in front of them, Skye came to a stop. Her jaw dropped and Skye resisted the urge to squeal. Coulson stood next to her and laughed when he saw what she was pointing at: a yellow-tailed woolly monkey, also know as Fitz's absolute favorite.

He actually squealed when he saw it. "Jemma, loooook!"

"It's a monkey," Ward said. "What's so special about a fat monkey?"

Jemma and Fitz suddenly turned on him and started talking equally as fast. "Well you see, it's actually a yellow-tailed woolly monkey. They're one of the rarest neotropic primates and are one of Peru's largest endemic mammals—" Ward didn't listen to the rest, but be didn't even hear the duo take a single breath.

"I've always wanted to see one!" Fitz exclaimed. Skye muttered something that sounded like a 'zoo'. "Especially one in the wild on top of that."

Coulson sighed, already knowing what one of their youngest teammates was about to ask.

"Coulson? Can we keep Fitz Jr.?"

Aaand point proven.
