Four kids sit at the table in silence eyes fixed on Morgan. A slight chill falls over the room as a breeze blows in from an open window.
"The year is 1994" Morgan begins.' " British soldiers can be seen patrolling the town of Kafue in Northern Rhodesia.
A young Morgan sits in a little tavern drinking a cheap bottle of whiskey as he waits for his partners from Crimson labs.
Three young men each on a week's break sit at a table in the corner exchanging horrible stories from the camps each one guards. Stories like how they have been burning their prisoners in cruel ways every other week. Or how they let some run off before hunting them like animals.
But tonight they're hired guns for some foreigners and they're excited to work. Morgan doesn't care for these tales. He would rather the slaves be kept alive. Some guys at Crimson labs think they've found profitable use for them in next generation computers.
But debates about using slaves for experiments has made it hard to use the local slaves in most countries. But not in Africa here slaves don't get any good treatment. After some slaves tried to fight for their freedom most countries decided it was time to thin the herd. So many Africans were killed, even in countries where they thought they were free.
He felt it was a great lose of human life but Morgan didn't do anything to help. Not that he or anyone could do much of anything to stop armies and governments from going on a killing spree.
Human rights activists from all over the world shut their eyes until the damage was done. An entire race hunted down to near extinction and kept like animals. Morgan felt bad for them, but at least they brought new game for him to hunt and catch alive.
Two men walk into the tavern with long black coats on. One of them tall with a large a muscular body the kind that tells you he would have no trouble putting down any man. The second is a short and chubby man with pale skin that doesn't see the sun all that much. He is younger than Morgan and his partner.
" Charlie, whose the new guy? What happen to Rick." Morgan asks the bigger man.
" Rick's down with something, says he thinks it's malaria. So I brought this kid, he's here to make sure we get exactly what he needs. Doesn't trust you to do the job right." Charlie says and sits next to Morgan.
" Have I ever failed to deliver the right product. I'm a man of my word you know that." Morgan defends himself.
" Yeah but the last one you sent us was damaged you know. We wouldn't be here if it wasn't." Smirks Charlie.
" Yes" agrees the little man " we need them in, um, working condition by the time we get them at the lab or else they're no good." Says the little man in a timid little voice.
Rick sent a letter to Morgan a few weeks ago. It warned him about Crimson labs, they were cutting lose ends and Morgan and himself may not be so lucky. Rick told Morgan in the letter he'd be traveling back to Africa with Charlie so this new guy put Morgan on edge. Especially because Rick would have sent word if he wasn't able to make it himself.
The two men talk to Morgan and as they do so, he studies them both for any signs of mal intent. He intends to keep his guard up, just in case something fishy happens.
" Well the cold may have had something to do with that. As you know it's becoming hard to transport these products in the right conditions. They need a warm place to be stored and... Other essentials." Morgan says, making sure not to speak in a way that might cause issues between them.
" Yes and it is equally hard for us to get any work done. After this job we intend to sever all ties to this place." Says Charlie's companion.
" Yeah I want to leave too. After this job I want nothing more to do with this place. This line of work is no longer profitable." Morgan tells them taking a sip of his drink.
