As they drove out of the gate you could feel the tension and anxiety in the car. They all knew that what they were about to do was incredibly risky and dangerous. Hopefully, all the planning they have done was enough.
Meanwhile, Mike and his squad were trying their best to figure out what the hell they were actually up against. Their plan was to kill as many zombies as they possibly could around the camp. That way not only were they training and preparing themselves they were also eliminating as many threats to their base. Obviously, things don't always go as planned.
"Hey! Check out that zombie there, it looks slow and weak, let's see if we can take it out," exclaimed Mike.
"Right, we got this!" said Miguel confidently.
"Miguel, hey! Don't get to close or else-"
"AAAAAHHHHHHH!! GET IT OFF ME!! MIKE!"
Quickly Mike rushed to his friend at the time his friend Miguel desperately needed him. Luckily, when he got to his friend's side, he saw that he hadn't been bit yet and so without even thinking he drove his dagger through the skull of the gross dead thing over him.
"You okay man?"
"Yeah, thanks."
"Stop being so careless, I don't wanna keep on saving your life," said Mike jokingly.
"Yeah right," said Miguel with a laugh.
With a few bumps along the road they managed to clear out a lot of zombies that were coming quite close to Rachel's house which was the place where they were staying. Mike knew that after the experience they had they all would be able to deal with the zombies better than they did before. At the end of the day everyone was going to give a report on the events of the day and share important information with each other in order to increase their chances at survival. After him and his team were complete with their task, they drove around to survey the area and discuss what they discovered that day.
Meanwhile, Miles, Rachel and Leon were still busy raiding and gathering as many supplies as they possibly could. They had got quite a lot of supplies already and there were just one or two things that they needed to collect. After driving around basically the whole town it started getting dark and they needed to get back before anything bad happened.
They stopped at one of the closest petrol stations. They needed to get some gas for the cars back at the base. All three of them entered the store with the utmost caution. There seemed to be no threat there, so they started loading drums of gasoline and any other things into the bus.
While Miles and Leon were packing and closing up, they heard a scream coming from inside the store.
"Guys I need a bit of help here!!!! Please Hurry!!," exclaimed Rachel.
Leon was closing up the car and Miles rushed inside to see some huge barrels of petrol fallen onto Rachel, and to make matters worse there her leg was bleeding badly.
"Oh my- Rachel are you alright?!," asked Miles concerned.
"Not really, I was looking for supplies and then it all toppled over-AAAAGGHH!!! Damn it hurts!"
"Okay, don't worry Rachel everything is gonna be alright. Just wait a second longer then Leon can come move the stuff and I'll get you to the bus. Don't worry I'm not going anywhere."
Finally, after a few seconds, Leon came and got the barrels off Rachel and Miles got her in the bus. They made her a bit more comfortable and headed home. It had been a long day for them and all they wanted to do was rest. They eventually got to the base and got Rachel on the bed and she was treated and patched up. When she was able to walk, she got up and went to find Mike.
They had a good conversation like they used to before this whole thing started. They walked around the huge property and realized that it had been barricaded and secured as if it was a military setup. You could see it made everyone feel a lot safer than before.
In the evening when everyone was finished with their tasks, they headed to the living room to have a debriefing. It felt like it took forever but the information they got from each other would become very valuable in order for them to survive. After the debriefing session was over, they ate and got cleaned up. Rachel decided that after a long day she would go relax outside. It was sunset time. All the beautiful colors were in the sky and for a moment all the horrible things that happened that day turned into nothing. A few moment later Miles came walking by.
"Hey, I just wanted to say thank you for having my back out there, I really appreciate it," she said to Miles. Her eyes were full of appreciation for what he had done for her that day.
"Sure, we have to have each other's backs, especially in the world we are living in now"
Not long after they were joined by Mike and Leon. They stood up till around 9 talking. Soon it went awfully quiet. Finally, someone spoke.
Leon said in a tired voice, "You know right before my phone died, I got a message from my mom, she said she got bit, she even showed me her wound. She told me that she loved me no matter what and that I need to survive...no matter what."
"Leon man...I'm so sorry. You will survive...WE will survive," replied Miles.
"We should all get some sleep," said Rachel after a while.
They headed to their rooms and got ready for hopefully a good night's rest. As each one of them laid their heads against the pillow, they wondered to themselves how long would they actually survive this damn apocalypse.
