Rachel
The zombies were getting close. Way to closes. It was safe to say that our lives were in danger. The horde was getting close. Closer than anyone would ever like to be. The pressure was setting in. Vehicles were being packed in a panic. Kids were getting into the cars with tears and a fearful look in their eyes. Children shouldn't have to ever experience fear like that. Not now. Not ever but now wasn't the time to be a comfort now was the time to survive.
"Everyone gets in the car now!" my dad shouted.
"Where are we gonna go? These things are everywhere!" I asked.
"I know a place. It's far from here. Leon will drive behind us and follow my lead from the front. Get in the minibus now honey," he said, quickly as he planted a kiss on my cheek.
I headed into the former school bus along with my other friends. I sat next to my friends Mike, Kayla, and Zig. Will and Maddie were sitting at the back with the other kids who we took along with us. Miles and Leon were in the front seats and Leon was driving. Everyone had started to settle down once they had begun their long drive to where my dad was leading us.
Mike, who was getting restless for some reason, asked how long it would be till we would arrive at our destination. Miles said that we should be there in about eight hours. Damn. Eight hours. That's a long time. I looked over at Mike who looked really uncomfortable but, in the sense, that he was keeping something from the rest of us. I didn't know how I knew this, but I did.
I then looked at Miles who seemed as though he was deep in thought. He said nothing and just stared into the distance. I wondered if he was scared at all. Scared of anything that might happen in the future, if any of us even had one anymore. With the new world, we were living in it didn't seem like a possibility.
I really couldn't believe that all of this had happened during the course of 2 weeks or so. So much had happened. Almost everything had changed and the world we knew was gone. Forever.
Everyone had started settling down and we've been driving for almost an hour. Leon and Miles were gonna take turns driving. They would continue to follow the parents who were leading the way in front of us. The road was dead quiet. There wasn't a single soul driving. Everyone must have left before us and now all that was left was the dead and they were walking around and biting everyone's face off.
I then decided that it was best for me to get some sleep. We still had a long day ahead and things weren't gonna get any easier. I might as well fight once I was well-rested. Sort of.

Mike
Wow. Dammit
That was pretty much what was going through my mind when we were leaving. Like oh my goodness. I had played hundreds of video games including zombies and the end of the world and so on but honestly, I don't think that anything could have prepared me for something as crazy as this.
Almost everyone had fallen asleep. Hell, even Rachel. I get it though. I mean it was a rough couple of weeks, really really rough. No one could have actually prepared for something as ridiculous and crazy as this. The only people who were actually awake were Miles, Zig, and I.
Damn, what are the odds? Leon was also sleeping which seemed fair. The guy was driving for hours and somehow, we still weren't there.
"Hey, Miles, how much longer?"
"That's not the first time you've asked that. In fact, that's the third time you've asked me that within this hour."
"Yeah I get it I'm impatient, but I still haven't gotten a good answer."
"Ya know Mike maybe if you didn't ask the same dumb question you've been asking it wouldn't seem so long," Zig chimed in.
"Shut up no one was talking to you."
Wow, it's been a while since we've had one of those. Dissing battles to determine who could humiliate the other person better. Guess we never found the time with all the stuff that was going on.
"Miles?"
"Well maybe another five hours or so, four at the best."
"What?!"
"Yeah, can't do much but keep going on."
"Damn."
It was quiet for a few moments. The three of us were still awake. But there was still the huge elephant in the room, or should I say minibus. The elephant was the bite mark on my upper arm. The bite that only the three of us knew about. Our dark little secret. Finally, after what felt like forever Miles brought it up.
"So, Mike how are you feeling. An irresistible urge to eat one of us yet?"
"No, I feel completely fine." I snapped at him.
I didn't wanna talk about this. What is there to talk about. I got a bit and nothing is happening. Seemed fine for now at least.
"I think the more pressing question is when and how we're gonna tell the others"
"Zig, I'm not sure if you've noticed but right now may not be the best time. Let's just wait and see what happens."
"We've been doing that for nearly a week."
"And we'll do it some more. Plus, if we tell them it's me that they're gonna be afraid of."
"Look, let's not say anything, for now, maybe we can find a doctor where we're headed then we can decide what to do from then onwards," Miles said.
I liked that plan, but I said nothing. There was nothing I could do. Not now. I was already thinking of how the people I loved would react when they found out something was wrong with me. They would probably hate me and fear me because of some damn bite mark.
After that conversation though I had this creeping feeling that somewhere deep down, I was afraid of myself. What would I do to everyone if I turned into one of those things? I couldn't take the thought any further in my head. I shuddered it off. I had to because what I already knew was eating me up alive.
