We need to draw a moral line,
and give up looking for another
hopefully more caring mother
and father, as did Coraline.
The ones we have may be the worst
a person wants to have but we
should not get rid of them to free
ourselves We must stick to the first,
although they may say, "We're too busy
to spend our time with you: "Go play
with friends or by yourself, away
from us, " which puts you in a tizzy.

Give all alternatives a miss,
though other parents may seem more
appealing, and less of a bore,
because the moment we dismiss
our first ones we go down a hole
in which we very soon will wonder,
"How come we ever made this blunder? "
and find that we have lost our soul.
Do not make Coraline's mistake
In search of parents in a palace:
Forget all dynasties in Dallas
while you're in wonderland awake.
