the void

Darkness.

It was all I could see, aside from pixels that seemed to sparkle like stars far from my reach.

I felt... Like I was falling. Forever and ever. I waited for what seemed like a couple minutes to hit something, Anything, but there seemed to be nothing in existence wherever I was.

Was I dead? This didn't really seem like Hell, but all punishments are unique right? Or maybe this was Limbo, Purgatory, the inbetween for those who died without faith?
But then I realised the only thing I could see was too familiar to be one of those.

These pixels...

"Is this the... void?" I wondered aloud. I regretted it though, as my voice echoed on forever.

Am I in Minecraft?

No, that's stupid, this is probably just some weird dream.

If it was a dream, wouldn't you have less control?

A voice in the back of my mind echoed.

Can I pinch my self? Ouch, and yes.

If this was Minecraft, how could I get out of the void? How was I not dead yet?

Just as I asked that question to myself, I realised I had spoken too soon.
Gradually, the pitch black around me started to fade into blue.

I tried to spread my limbs out to slow down the fall, but I had already passed through the blocky layer of clouds and showed no signs of stopping.

This is it

I thought to myself as the green leaves of the trees came into view, getting closer, and closer until- *
"OOF!"

I fell into the canopy of the trees. Surprisingly, I wasn't dead. And I could finally get a closer look at this world, I just had to get out of these... leaves?

After looking down I saw two things, a cluster of leaves condensed into a cubic metre, or at least what looked like leaves, they were pixelated and lacking detail, and a... hot bar? Wait no, a HUD.

There were ten hearts, an empty experience bar, nine empty slots and only five hunger bars.

Well I AM hungry...

At this realisation, that I really must be inside the game, I tried punching the leaves beneath me. It seemed to be working, although it gave my hands a tingling sensation.

Then, the leaves disappeared into thin air, out of existence. And I fell, too.

After sustaining that small bump, I looked around me, only to see an ocean of dark brown pillars, toadstools that challenged the size of small homes, and figures in the distant darkness...

"Oh shit..."
