Chapter II
The attack

Cloak was on his way to the village. He must get the box in order to prove himself to his people.
The only thing he could do to impress the Anaconda, his mother— was to slay a few Bloodmixes.
He didn’t want to, but he knew what must be done.

His mother, Anaconda, was never forgiving to those who had wronged her. Even if it was to be her son. She never treated Cloak differently. Some might even say she treated him worse.

It was no secret she was not happy with the man Cloak grew to become. Too much like his father.

Cloak did not know anything about his father. Only that he died when Algoria fell.

He never felt like he was one of the Serpents. Even before he was considered a traitor. He did have one friend, though.

His name was Python. Or at least that’s how the Serpents called him. He was the fiercest warrior of them all, and very loyal to the Anaconda.
He was more of a son to her than Cloak was.

Even if they were pretty much competitors, they were good friends. Though they did not agree about the Bloodmixes. When Cloak’s betrayal was revealed, he was rather disappointed, though he still believed he was a good man.

Cloak has not seen Python in a while. He wondered what he thought of his mission to get Pandora.

Cloak did not know what he thought of it himself.

Eventually, he had noticed the village in the horizon.
Though the guards must have expected him, because a wall of archers had surrounded the village.

Those thieves must have warned them, Cloak thought to himself.
All of the archers had their bows pointing towards him. He had no chance to get past them.

But then, the archers put their bows down, though they were still staring at him.
A short fox-man started walking towards him. He put his hands up in order to symbolize he was unarmed.

“I just want to talk. Put the dagger down.” Said the Fox.
Cloak did not reply. He kept holding the dagger.
“Well, if you want to fight, so be it. But I think the odds are against you.” Said the fox and looked back at his wall of Archers.
Cloak wanted to fight, though he knew it would mean his demise.
He had no choice other than putting the dagger down, and so he did.

“Good.” Said the fox.
Cloak noticed the fox had the bag on him. He would have taken it, but he was outnumbered.
The fox noticed that Cloak was staring at the bag.
“You want this?” he asked.

Cloak was tired of playing games with that fox. He spoke.

“Yes.”

“Well, if you tell us what it is, you might have it.”

Cloak knew that if he would tell the fox what it was, he would never give it to him.
“It is just an empty box. I wanted to fill it with ash from that forest, though then your people stole it.”

Cloak was a bad liar. And the fox clearly did not believe him.

“Well, if so, you wouldn’t mind if I open it?” said the fox while holding the box, preparing to open it.

If the fox were to open it, bad things would unleash from it’s inside. When the box is not opened carefully, it could as well destroy the entire planet.

Cloak had to do something. He sent his hands toward the box, but the fox moved quickly and dodged.

“Talk.” Said the fox. “Because this is clearly not empty.”

“The serpents need it.” Said Cloak.

“Need it for what?” the fox asked.

Cloak hit the fox in his face. He fell to the ground.
He took the box from the unconscious fox and held it.

“It is a weapon. Meant to destroy you.”  Cloak said fiercely. “If you lift your bows, I will show you what it does.” He threatened.

Shae and Heeshe arrived at the field.

“Lift your bows, people.” Said Shae.

The archers were confused, though one of them listened to her commands and charged the bow.

“Too bad, Monkey girl. Now your whole village Will be destroyed.” Said Cloak.

He opened Pandora’s box, and closed his eyes.

Nothing happened. He opened his eyes and looked into the box. Inside of it were a few metal balls.
Then, he realized what happened. He’s been fooled. The box that the Fox held was a fake.

Shae smiled. She held the real box.

The archers lifted their bows and aimed at Cloak.

“Leave, or we open fire.” Said Shae.

Cloak, for once, was truly scared.
He backed up, and walked away from the village in defeat.
The Bloodmixes had outsmarted the Serpents yet again.
