Ch 4: Operation

"Sorry sir but he is no more.", said the doctor hesitatingly. "No doctor please don't say this. He is just a baby please save him. What will I say to my Wei when he wakes up. Please do something. My baby can't die.", said Yunlan panicking.

Nothing could be done now. No miracle happened and Lan lan was lying there dead. Yunlan was crying heavily.

Wei was unconscious and lying there breathing very lightly. Yunlan who was already broken after seeing Lan lan dead didn't want to lose his Wei who was lying there lifeless and soaked in blood. He kept on holding his Wei's hand and was crying heavily, murmuring things to him.

"Mr Zhao please don't panic and let us do our work. Already he is in a very critical condition and if we don't operate soon then you may lose him as well.", said the doctor.

"No doctor. Please don't say like that. You have to save my Wei at any cost. If anything happens to him then I will die too. I will sit away, you just save him.", said Yunlan and moved away and the doctor and nurses just kept on operating Wei.

Then the ambulance reached the hospital and they took Wei to the operation theatre and Yunlan stayed outside the room. He was just praying to God to save his Wei, which he never did in the past. Tears were not stopping to fall from his eyes and his eyes were red. He was just hitting his hand on the bench on which he was sitting, when one of his fellow officer, Da Qing, his best friend came and handed him the large teddy bear saying that it was found in the park. Then he patted his back in order to comfort him and left. Yunlan didn't want anyone near him at such a point of time as it was his nature. No one except Wei but alas! his Wei is fighting for his life inside the OT.

Seeing the teddy, Yunlan remembered the morning that he enjoyed with Wei and Lan lan. He hugged the teddy tightly. "My baby is gone because of me. I should not have broken my promise.", mumbled Yunlan.

After three hours the lights of the OT went off and the doctor came out. "How is my Wei?", asked Yunlan impatiently. "Mr Zhao well we did our best and we saved him as well.", said the doctor. "Then can I meet him. I want to see him. Thank you so much doctor.", said Yunlan who is not crying anymore. "Wait Mr Zhao! He is out of danger but haven't gain consciousness and I can't say when he will wake up.", said doctor sadly.

"Do you mean he is in coma?", said Yunlan nervously. "No he is not in coma but his state is similar to it. His limbs are moving but it seems like he don't want to wake up and he don't want to live. It seems to be a psychological condition and so I can't help about it. He can hear you but don't want to feel it. Please try to give him hope to live. I think now only you can do something. Now you can only save him. Go and meet him and talk to him.", said the doctor and he left. Yunlan went to the ward in which we was taken.

Wei was lying on the bed with network of wires attached all over his body monitoring him. Yunlan was very sad seeing his Wei in such a condition. He wanted to cry but then he remembered the doctor's words so calmed down and told himself to stay strong for his Wei.

He sat there holding Wei's hand. "Wei this is cheating you are sleeping soundly here and I'm worrying about you. You always break my sleep and now here you are lying here lazily. Come get up fast. Get up quickly Wei. Please Wei wake up.", said Yunlan but there was no response.

Yunlan was on the verge of breaking down when he got out of the room.
