It was a Sunday in the middle of summer, and i was home alone. Ever since the "incident", i have never told anyone about my power. I didn't know exactly how to use it properly, but since i was all alone, i could maybe mess around a bit.
I went outside, making sure my neighbours weren't outside and couldn't see me. If anyone, god forbid my neighbours or parents, found out, i could be in serious trouble, in many ways.
To activate my power, i just had to think it. I thought, I need to fly, i need to fly, i need to use my powers now.
Automatically, i got lifted up into the air. Cool, isn't it? And even the cool kids at Ridgeway High couldn't do stuff as cool as me right now.
I thought, higher, higher! I flew up higher into the clear, blue sky. I was giggling, while i was all the way at what seemed like the top of the world.
Suddendly i stopped. And i started falling.
I could'nt do anything to stop it, i closed my eyes as i almost hit the ground. I held my breath, and suddendly, i went flying up in the air!
I smiled, getting a deja-vue sense, from my suicide attempt.
I flew a bit more, and after i got kind of dizzy, i landed safely on the ground.
I walked around, trying to maintain my balnce. After I finally stopped wobbling around, i jumped up and ran inside. The second i came in through the back door, my mom stepped into the house from the front door.
Coincedence.
"Hey, Tessa! Did your dad tell you about the security camera's we put in our backyard?" I froze at the sound of what my mom had just said.
"Uh... no. I didn't know, did you already put them-"
"Up? Yes, we put them up yesterday. Wanna check out the footage from the past hour?" My mom interrogated.
"NO." I immediately called out, soon regretting it.
My mom softened up a bit: "Honey, i want to know everything that you are doing outside. There should be nothing that you are hiding from me, and i have faith in you, and i believe that you are not hiding anything."
My eyes watered at her words. What would her reaction be when she found out? She would most likely be mad that i didn't tell her. She started going up the stairs to check the footage, and i didn't know what to do.
I suddenly decided to run into my room, and hide under my covers. That always seems to work, no matter what happens.
I waited and waited, my stomach turning at the fact that she was probably watching me flying through the air right now. I could not believe it.
"Tessa!" Her voice sounded upset. I slumped, got out from under my covers, and walked over, my heart beating twice as fast.
I gulped when i saw her angry face.
"You forgot to turn off the lights in the kitchen."
I let out a sigh of relief. I smiled apologetically.
"Why on earth are you smiling? I am mad at you right now. Oh, and p.s, lets go check the security footage after you switch off the lights."
...and i was nervous all over again. I turned off the lights, staring at my mom staring at me. I giggled nervously, and she grabbed my hand tightly.
When we got up to the room with the footage, i started fake crying. Acting is my forte.
She didn't even bother to ask me what's wrong. There was no use in continuing on with my amazing acting. I looked at the screen with the footage through blurry eyes, still filled with tears.
You could see me walking, laughing and having fun. I smiled. So far, so good. I desperately hoped that it stopped filming somehow once i started flying.
Nope, not at all.
There i was, closing my eyes, putting my hands in fists and pushing off of the wet grass, and then soaring through the sky.
I stopped breathing for a few seconds. I bit my lip.
She smiled. She actually smiled. Then she started laughing. I was completely and utterly shocked.
"Wha-what?"
"Tessa, you could fly? Why didn't you just tell me?!" She asked.
I was lost and confused. How would she know about flying? Does she know someone that could fly? Is there any other human in the world that could fly?
She could see right through me, so she said: "Come outside."
I followed her, but i had no idea why she was taking me outside.
Once we stepped out the door, my curiosity was overbearing, i needed to know. "Why?! Why did you take me out here? This makes no sense!"
She smiled, and without saying a word, walked to the centre of the garden.
What i saw was incredible, weird and fantastic.
My mom was about 9 feet of the ground, flying through the air. My jaw dropped watching her soaring through the clear blue sky.
