It was about an hour later and Binx hadn't shown up. It was almost curfew and I was getting restless. I wanted to fall asleep with him tonight. I needed to run my hands through his fur; he's been such a big help to me in times of need. I shuffled around the dorm and grabbed my velvet robe and matching slippers my aunt had bought me. I brought a quill and parchment downstairs whilst levitating my tea, careful not to spill it. "Night Lu." "G'night Lula!"

"Goodnight Janet, night Donna." I nodded to the girls as they walked up the steps.

I took my place on the floor next to the fire leaning on the table to write my letter. My tea landed carefully next to me. After warming my hands, I turned on the radio only to hear a Paul Anka song start.

Dearest Aunt Miranda,
Hello Aunt. Oh, how I miss you. It's been too long since your last letter. How is the Ministry treating you? Well, I hope, and if not you must tell Father at once and it will be taken care of. You know how he cares for you.

I took a break and realized I'd forgotten to sweeten my tea. I put my quill down and went up to grab two sugar cubes before heading back downstairs.

"Oh, look who it is. Alula, you're looking well." I looked up to see James with Remus.

"Oh, hello, I didn't realize anyone else was out and about." I could see James was just coming back from Merlin knows where.

Remus was sitting on the couch nearest the table where the radio sat. He smiled at me. "Hi, Alula."

"Well, I'm heading to the dorm now. Come up soon Remus, yeah?" He put a hand on his shoulder and Remus nodded.

"Yes and tell Petey not to worry. I'll wake him in the morning." He smiled and James rolled his eyes.

"Goodnight Alula. Nice to see you."

"Goodnight James." I smiled before sitting back down on the floor.

I added the sugar and with a nonverbal spell mixed it in. "Is it yours?"

I pushed the hair out of my face. "Come again?" Smiling, Remus pointed at the parchment.

Chuckling, I nodded. "Yes. A letter to my Aunt, I told you about. The one who works for the Ministry."

"Ah yes. The rebel of the family." He smirked and I smiled.

"What are you doing down here anyway? It's almost curfew.." I asked, seeing the clock on the wall chime 9:00.

"Didn't want to go up just yet. I needed a quiet moment first."

"Well then, don't mind me." I smiled and picked up my quill again.

I wait for the day of our family Christmas party as I'm sure you'll have to be there. Father is always much happier when all three of your siblings are together. How is Cressa? Binx will be happy to see her. I do miss when they were kittens tossing over one another so carelessly. I feel so the opposite these days. I feel as though I worry about my safety more than my classes at times. The world is changing.

I sighed and folded the parchment before placing it in the pocket of my robe. "I know you said you wanted quiet, but may I ask you something?" I picked myself off the floor and sat on the other side of the couch from Remus.

I picked up my tea. "Yeah, of course." He turned the radio down a couple of notches.

"Are you alright? After class today I wanted to check on you, but something came up before I got the chance." I had my head down worried if I looked right at him, I'd intimidate him. "I couldn't help but be worried about you seeing how shaken up you got.."
