Todoroki Enji shuffled into his office with a stern glare, the weight of the book in his grasp seemingly dragging his arm and stomach to the floor. Nevermind the chaotic noise that came from the three internship students he took under his wing, that brief encounter with Hawks rattled him to the core.

"It was way too different from back then..." He murmured. It's like the opposite of what you normally say. You're the type of person who speaks your heart, while acting like you're joking. At the very least, whenever you were with me...you'd always be joking around.

Endeavor hastily turned the Liberation Front's book in his hands, eyeing its tattered cover carefully.

The Number One Hero was wary, because Hawks had greeted him with a firm stare. With a gaze that did not meet him with humor, but rather a determined look. And every word that left his mouth contradicted his own personal mantra: to give the heroes too much time in their hands. Of course Hawks wanted that, but not at the cost of forcing every citizen to fend for themselves...

"That wasn't what you really thought."

A glaring yellow highlighter met Endeavor's careful look. The second words...

Enemy is the liberation army. Taken over by the league. They number over hundred thousand.

Endeavor swallowed a breath, hands gripping the pages tightly when he continued to file through them. That pit of fear and the gnawing of his conscience only grew.

In four more months...everything will be destroyed.

The trio of UA students that were under Endeavor's internship found themselves in a thick silence on the way back to UA from their chaotic night. After the—what Bakugo roughly called a "shitty experience!!"—dinner at the Todorokis' home, Endeavor sent the group back with much more insight into the unforseen private lives of the Number One hero.

The dinner the group had been invited to rapidly escalated into a slight feud between the Todoroki household members within the hour. After emotional outbursts from many of them, the sudden villain attack against the Number One's own family had rattled the internship students.

Endeavor had shifted into a strangely reflective attitude when he protected Natsuo and Bakugo from the deranged villain. The hero was aware that his children were pushing him away (Midoriya could already connect the lines as to why), and yet the Number One refused to stumble.

"It's alright if you never forgive me." Endeavor's flames had ceased, an unfamiliar rawness consuming his expression as he stared at his own son. "It's not like I want your forgiveness. I just want to make up for everything I've done."

Forgiveness? Midoriya mulled over to himself, eyes locked ahead on the dimming lights of the road.

A strange thing for Endeavor to declare to his own children; that, he didn't need to be forgiven. That Endeavor would rather make up all the mistakes he had made in his own life. Mistakes that the young student couldn't even begin to fathom.

Midoriya Izuku was well aware of the frighteningly stiff atmosphere between all of the Todoroki children and their father, but to see it firsthand was rattling. Because he didn't want to interfere, and yet all of him screamed out to help. To somehow interevene.

But how could a student change something that festered so deeply in their lives?

"ARGH! I hate this shitty atmosphere!!" Bakugo, whose irritation had been building for far too long, screamed. Small explosions burst from his palms, a dog barking in response in the distance. "Dammit, Todoroki!! Don't drag us into your bullshit if it's going to only leave us with more questions!!"
