During the Revolutionary War, a terrier from the opponent's side was seen wandering the battlefield. George Washington ordered a cease fire, causing the United States to surrender the battle, so that he could return the terrier back to the enemy's successfully. Both sides stopped fighting so that the dog could be safely returned.
