Chapter 11

Rain

"That's the campus," Carter pointed the building to Leo. He took reminded me of the location by taking a picture of it. "I'm sure by the time you'll be familiarized by this area, you can go around somewhere without me, right?"

Leo nodded, "sure, we have our personal life and I don't want to meddle with you and your friend's hangouts. And I'm sure I'm gonna find some things to do here when I'm not on campus. I just can't wait to start."

"Oh, I bet you do. But you're only going to take one class right? So, you'll be having a lot of free time?"

Leo nodded again, "Yes, but I'm thinking of joining a club or something else to occupy myself. And I will be attending some seminars or if I'm lucky enough to get a part-time around here, I think I'll do that. And it's kinda embarrassing that I've got to stay with you and it feels like I'm just taking you for granted—which is not but I think I have to find my way here on my own."

Carter put his arms around Leo's shoulder, "you don't have to do pay me for staying with me. It's enough that you're already living with me for a few months. I'm sure I'll miss you when you leave but I'll be not looking forward to that time because we will enjoy everything while you're here, right?"

"Yes, I would love to." He smiled.

"So, there's this Washington Square Park and these buildings around us are the NYU campus, those are the dorms. I mean, it is big that it might be too much for you but you'll be able to get on with it when you started going here. It's not hard for me to go around here honestly, I love it when I walked inside the campus. I know you will too.'

"I'm sure I will."

"So, where do you want to go now, Leo?"

Leo shrugged off. He basically doesn't know anything here so he won't know what to tell Carter.

"Hm..." Carter hummed, think of another place they can check.

When they were about to head off, the rain started pouring. They immediately find a roof to get shelter from the rain. They were both a little soaked from the rain.

Carter grunted as he took a deep breath, "this is just bad timing. If the rain won't stop at any minute, it wouldn't be good to roam around the city if the streets are wet. But I guess we'll have to stay a little longer here. But you have to know that it usually rains fairly around so I might have to say this, get used to it. But you don't have to worry about the weather, enjoy the city, okay?"

"Yeah, I'll take that from you."

"Cool," Leo patted his shoulder. "Anyway, now that you know where the campus is. Would you like to go back to our dorm now?"

"Sure... but we can't, it's raining." Leo said.

"Yeah, I know. I'll try to give Mich a call if he can fetch us up here. Give me a minute." Carter said as he instantly scooped his phone and dialed his brother's number.

While Leo let Carter talk to his brother over the phone, he fished out his phone from his pocket and take a few shots of the view. He still couldn't process it all at once. Leo almost stops pursuing himself to study abroad it will take a lot of things—financially and emotional support. Though people back from his home country admired him for his genuine personality, and they just loved him. He struggled upon getting financial support because the university he's attending back home only takes care of his school records, and a ticket to the United States, and other than that, nothing more.
