It's been fourteen years to the day since I was kidnapped, and I can hardly believe that much time has passed. I think about that night often, and what may have happened if I held on tighter to my best friends hand. I'm not sure how things would've turned out for me.

It hasn't been all that bad, I was one of the ones who got lucky. I had been transported to France, as well as several other children. The King and Queen were looking to adopt a child, because they couldn't have any of their own. I was lucky, and they ended up choosing me. If I didn't get adopted by them, I couldn't even begin to imagine what would've happened.

The King and Queen were kind people, and they loved me as their own. They didn't once make me feel like I wasn't their own child. In their minds, I was their daughter. We had such a wonderful time together over the course of a few years, and then something unexpected happened. The Queen died.

We mourned for months, and I took it hard especially. I didn't just lose a guardian, I lost another mother. Papa, the King would barely eat, and I had to pull myself together for the both of us to continue on with our lives.

As the years went by and the seasons changed, Papa and I got closer. He rarely let me out of his sight. I started to help him out with the kingdom's work. The ledgers, meetings, anything that is required of a King. I was important, and I had a dutiful task.

It wasn't until last year our little world was turned upside down again. The amount pressure that was put on him, he finally cracked. He remarried to a women named Lady Helga Marm. Her husband had recently died, and she wanted to remarry for the sake of her children too.

We invited them into our house, treated them as our own even, but Lady Helga still hates me. As well as my crass step-sisters Hailey, and Kayla. Their brother Alex, I liked. Him and I had managed to become friends, but his manners were far different than the rest of his family. I was treated more like their slave than family. I constantly ran errands for them, especially my step-sisters. I wanted to retaliate on several occasions but I remember my dear Papa, and how he's raised me to be. Even if they hate me, I have to be different from them. I have to be above all of that hate and treat them as I would like to be treated. That's why I put up with all of their bullshit.

I prefer to hang around guys honestly, it's a lot more fun. All girls just want to complain about their problems, and gossip. I hate talking about my feelings, and I'd much rather keep them to myself. My guy friends just punch each other when their mad and they're done. I've adopted this concept, and I'm basically one of the guys to them in our little group.

First off we have Jess Sanders. He's super likeable, funny, and pretty much loves everybody. That is until you piss him off. Jess is protective as hell. If you dare to cross him or hurt one of his friends, he could literally kill you. Underneath all that tough facade, he really is just a big teddy bear that is there for you to hug when you need it.

Then there's Tyler Rodson, who is a prince but in reality he really just wants to be a regular guy. Tyler tends to be the shyest of the group, but when he gets around people he knows he is the biggest crackhead I know. He is hilariously funny once you get to know him. Tyler can be subconscious at times, because he secretly wants to have approval from everyone that he's doing the right thing.

Lastly, there is Andrew Mitchell, but we call him Andy. We tend to give him a hard time because he tends to be more interested in the gym, than finding a girlfriend. Andy is so strong he could benchpress a 100 on one hand and it wouldn't even surprise me. Other than that, he's pretty laid back. He's comfortable with the way he is, and he doesn't need to change for anybody.

Our friend group is the only thing that keeps me sane these days, with Lady Bitchface- I mean Helga. All I want from her is to be treated decent, it's not like I need her love, but a card for all the work I do for her would be nice. That being said, it brings me to our current situation. The family dinner.

It's supposed to be about something important, but I don't see why we needed to have a formal occasion for it. Perhaps thats the only way to get everyone in the same room without killing each other? Everybody normally just eats in their rooms, or different places around the house. I tried to get Papa to tell me earlier, but he wouldn't budge.

We were all sitting around the table, when Papa cleared his throat to gain our attention.

"What is it Papa?" I asked, reaching for his hand.

"It's something I've been meaning to talk about for months." He replied. "As you know I'm not getting any younger-"

I interrupted "Papa don't be silly, you still have much life-"

"I'm sorry my dear, but it is true." He smiled softly before turning to his wife. "We need to make a change to insure that our kingdom will be safe for a long time."

"How are we supposed to do that?" Alex laughed. "Put everyone in a bubble?"

"No." My father stated. "One of the girls must marry the Prince of England. It has been arranged that we will travel this Saturday to their palace. There the young boy will pick his bride."

"How long are we staying there?" Hailey smiled, her eyes suddenly perky, and full of life.

"As long as it takes for him to make a decision."

"Are you kidding me? I have a life here, I have friends here." I exclaimed.

"Don't worry little begger, he wouldn't dare to pick you. You'll be back soon enough." Kayla retorted, before earning a scowl from her mother. "Sorry."

"Y/N we have a duty to our kingdom. If you feel more comfortable with them there then by all means bring them with you. We could use lively conversation." Papa replied.

"Ok." I sighed, as I got up to walk out of the room.

I was worried. All of my fears flooded back to me. I haven't seen the Prince of England in fourteen years. What would Tom think of me? What would the Hollands think of me? Is it possible that they won't even recognize me? I did miss them, but I was scared at what they might think. Perhaps they thought I hated them? Maybe they thought I was dead. I just don't want to be the one to ruin things. I know I didn't contact them which is my fault but I didn't want to cause a scandal. The only thing I could hope for is that my friends would work as a shield. That way I can stay invisible.
