The sun was bright and proud as our feet landed through the soft greens periodically. Step after step in a non-changeable pattern as we leave our bodies to autopilots. Traces of information nested in my subconscious, painting the image of perfect weather accompanied by travelling sound waves, finally resting in a place where they'll meet a listener miles away. No disturbances.. no abnormalities.. no rain nor thunder.Impatience was starting to spill on my canvases and paint an even more disturbing sight where mismatched colours intertwined on top of that journey that did nothing but exhaust me. And my tongue was ready to object and point out the error when alexander spoke.
" we're here "My eyes could only see a continuous green colour, sun and trees. Not even a construction as innocent and fragile as a birdhouse to be spotted among this heaven.
" here where exactly ? " i half asked half snapped.
Ignoring my tone, he said, " here, look . "
And under a completely ordinary tree, he pulled on a ropey loop, pulling with it some sort of door and jumped inside.
I guess arrogance was always a powerful quality, unaffected by the cruelty of time, one he was as famous for as his green eyes. he didn't even care to hide the trap door.
three different possibilities for an immediate deduction of alexander. Trust and/or carelessness
I wasn't sure if he trusted me enough to know that i'd follow him inside. or if it just simply slipped his mind or both.
Either way, eventually, the feet found their way through the thickness and dotted a territory that was anything but theirs until they stopped before the gap that was filled with wood a few seconds ago.
But i could only see darkness, the reason why the metal of the ladder, my only way in, seemed harsh and dim.Briefly, his face interrupted the view again from the blackness , " you coming ? " he asked, voice amplified by the unwelcoming vastness.
" yeah .. coming "
And wasting no more time, the feet went down the cold ladder.
When i looked at what lay ahead of me using the morning light as my only guidance, he was forced low on his knee to get out a stubbornly reluctant flashlight from the bag.
" you guys probably should have installed some bulbs here " i remarked.
He looked up bleakly to support my pathetic attempt of sarcasm.
He quickly climbed up the ladder again, closing the door. Fixing a mistake done by my confused distracted conscious and allowed the beast to swallow us as a punishment.
" follow me "
following him i did , a touch of chill air gave me a shiver as we proceeded down the dark passage. We kept going through the folds of the beast's intestines, spending ten minutes in complete don't-you-dare-disturb-me silence till we reached a door among the digestive cells and behind it, i could hear voices.
It wasn't until now that i wondered how he communicated with the group. Super impossible was it radio communication .. considering what he has told me earlier.
I didn't have much time to ask , since without knocking or hesitation, alex opened the door, and went inside.
For a moment, i was scared of entering and having to once again speak in front of a group of people and not anymore restricted to talking to a single person. It was so ... alien, a rotten berry of blackened red colour carelessly thrown with healthy ones in a strawberry basket.
