We were walking side by side into the house that Kie and Topper owned. JJ had Caleb on his lap, because despite our son already being 5 years old he was still extremely babied by his dad, I could barely walk because of my huge 7 month pregnancy tummy of the twins.
"Rina I missed you so much!" Kie said pulling me into a careful hug.
"We were literally together 3 days ago." I laughed and moved onto giving Topper a hug.
"And that's a long time." She said and moved her gaze to my husband who seemed extremely tired of carrying our boy. "That's why we aren't having kids." Kie said playfully nudging Topper.
"That's what you say now." JJ said pushing through the couple into their living room to lay Caleb on the couch.
"Rude much?" Kie questioned following close behind.
Topper and I followed them laughing at their childishness. We were 28 and still behaved like when we were teenagers.
"Jesus is your belly enormous." Sarah said and ran to me to caress it.
"Nice to see you too." I laughed.
"Do you know what you're going to call them, aunt Rina?" Jess, Sarah and John B's 8 year old daughter, asked me.
"Yes sweetie. Aspen and Alaina. Do you like it?" I asked and pulled up my top a bit so that she could feel the kicks from the girls.
"I love it!" She said and continued to be fascinated by the movements in my belly.
"Are Pope and Sage really not going to make it? It was supposed to be a reunion!" Sarah complained.
"He's stuck in some work duty in Europe." Topper explained.
"I haven't seen them in awhile." I said. "Last time I saw them, they weren't even engaged." I continued.
"He never comes to Outer Banks anymore, always filled up with work." Kie grumbled.
"Just like Rina, here." JJ said playfully.
"I'm here now!" I said hitting him lightly.
"Only because you're super pregnant." Sarah agreed with JJ.
"My company isn't going to manage itself." I laughed. "And you're one to talk! Always booking more and more surf lessons at the school." I answered back to JJ.
"We're the only ones who stuck to the roots." Sarah says hugging Kie.
"Don't be such drama queens." I laugh and join the two girls.
I couldn't be happier with the way things turned out. Perfect family. Perfect friends. Perfect job. What else does a girl need?
