Before Queen's Obsession, Approximately 16 years ago Before the events of Lunatic.

Contrary to belief, Jisoo hated math more than anything in the world– it was rather ironic since she's considered as the math wizard of their family. Even by just a mere age of 8, Jisoo had already covered up a lot of mathematical subjects from Algebra to Advanced Calculus– a rather astonishing feat for someone her age, but in her own opinion– it was rather disappointing and lacking.

Jisoo wouldn't go too far from calling herself a perfectionist, then again she was rather annoyed of herself if she wouldn't settle in for more than the best. Her mother seemed rather uncaring or just faking obliviousness of her weird workaholic self, but her father saw this as something he should be proud of. Afterall, his heiress seemed all in at handling their entire empire due to her enthusiasm in learning.

But Jisoo was just a curious little child, all the girl wanted to do was learn and learn until she'll grasp all of the knowledge in the world– a little impossible don't you think so? But well, a child's mind does work differently than a teens or an adults– and children want nothing more than to soak up all information they could drink with their thirsty nimble mind.

Jisoo was an ambitious child. If she were to be sorted at those Hogwarts houses Jennie loved to read, then she'd be the Tom Riddle to her mother's Salazar Slytherin. Unlike her versatile little sister whom only hides amongst the shadows, never wanting more than what she had.

Though that does make Jisoo feel like a thorn was taken off her skin-- more than anything she hated sharing, and Jisoo would hate to share her high pedestal with her sister. Jisoo wouldn't want a sibling rivalry with Jennie, and she's glad that her younger sister was too aloof with power.

Math was followed by physics, calculations and numbers– oh how Jisoo's tiny brain bleeds with these. More than anything she hated to learn numbers partnered with words-- more so equations since it was rather taxing– but it was later on that she found out that for every equation she does, she follows almost all the same structure and pattern.

This was the time when Jisoo discovered her passion for chess.

The first person who introduced her to the game was her father-- and she was only about five during that time. She was curious, oddly so, when she saw her father and uncle play the board game with checkered design and numerous pieces on top.

So when her uncle left, her father taught her curious mind the wonders of chess-- from the gameplay, the mechanics and the tactics. Her father taught her all he knew-- so it wasn't a surprise to him when the five year old beat him on her second try. For he was proud, really proud that his daughter was following his footsteps.

But of course, Jisoo would have a rival of her own-- and it would come in the form of her sister and her mother.

Jennie, though not very widely seen, was just as smart as she was when it came to playing. Her younger sister beat her once, and Jennie could do it again-- only if the girl was dedicated enough to do it, but alas, Jennie wasn't that interested-- or even the slightest bit motivated to drag the game on, unless of course, she finds it interesting enough.

While Jisoo's mother, was by all means, the hardest opponent to beat. For it was later on that she learnt, it was her mother that taught her father chess-- and her mother was practically unbeatable on the game, as her father's words claim.

It was weird, seeing her father lose to her mother-- and even more so, seeing a king kneel before a queen. But Jisoo supposed, no King could ever function efficiently without a Queen by his side.

Chess is equal to mathematics, or chess could not function without formulas like it does in mathematics. Chess is merely a physical form of mathematics wherein you predict and derive the plausible moves the enemy would take.
