I think this story has my mind on flowers lately 😅along with making cards for the elderly!

But I digress...

It was just all weird. I mean why would Benimaru stay in a house of a woman that he "loved" who was presumed dead by his mentor now lieutenant?

"None of this made sense at all," I thought to myself as I remained hidden from the public eye by walking through a series of alleyways while gathering intel on the city, "He could and should have just stayed at the Brigade's guardhouse."

I pushed my hair back and sighed at this odd behavior and took a deep breath. I shouldn't be focused on his living arrangements, after all, I was the one who left...but damn it Benimaru...why did you have to rebuild the house and live there. My best friend is probably laughing at my predicament right now... but I should push that to the side and actually focus on the task on hand.

"Benimaru!"

He turned around and looked at the Old lady with a slight annoyance in his face. Come to think of it, it was the same old lady who would pressure me to get married when I lived here back in the days.

"I made some daifuku, take it with you," she said as she raised a bag covered with a green cloth with white designs.

"Ha, I told you before you Old Bat I don't like sweets,"

"So he really hasn't changed..."I thought to myself.

But she wasn't taking no for an answer as she continued to push the Daifuku towards him.

"These used to be Inori's favorite treats," she edged on.

"Uh...No they weren't they were-"

"She likes Dango," he emphasized.

My eyes quirked into confusion. Why did he just use a present tense of a verb as if I was still alive? I remember clearly that Konro told him I had died so why would he say that...did he refuse to let go and move on?

Soon Benimaru had taken the bag and had the bag on his back.

"Ha, she makes too much," he sighed.

He kept walking around the block while I secretly trailed him. It was best to trail him rather than walk around town and have too many eyes on me. The best part about Asakusa if I recall is that the alleyways were mostly clear from any criminals that would be lurking around night time.

"Ah hey, Beni! It's been a few days!" a man yelled out, "How bad ya' miss me!"

"The same bartender that was giving me the drinks earlier..." I thought as I looked at Benimaru to see him so bothered.
