The road back to the arena was filled with dread. Dean didn't try to speak to me, and even if he did, I probably wouldn't have answered.
Our walk didn't take long, as we came face to face with the headmaster waiting for us in front of the arena door.
I was certain they could hear how fast my heart was pulsating. My legs trembled and sweat dripped from my forehead at a rapid pace.
The headmaster gave Dean a nod and Dean gave me a glance, before entering the arena.
I stared up at the headmaster almost in tears.
"Headmaster, I can't do it. Can't you just cancel it and convince the elders? I'm not ready."
He looked at me for a while without speaking, then he shrugged and announced.
"You are right.""What?" I replied, shocked at his answer.
"I said you are right Jade. You are not ready, and you can't do it. Let's go announce to the crowd that you quit."
I stared in shock at what I just heard, not only did I feel betrayed at what he said, I also felt sad. He didn't call me Jay girl like he always did. I didn't understand why, but it bothered me.
"The elders would have to understand. It's not your fault that you are feeble. You would precisely have to apologize to Meg for losing her title, and then to Dean for wasting his time. Then perhaps the elders will forgive your weakness and let you go back to earth. That's what you want right?" He gazed straight at me without any expression on his face.
Now, I'm just plain mad, what the hell was wrong with him. Why did he even bother training me, if he had no faith in me at all. I know I said I couldn't do it, but it was just my nerves. And instead of giving me a pep talk like any normal person would, he called me weak! Weak? Who is weak? Me?
I screamed. "You think I'm weak? I am not weak. Just because of a moment's hesitation, you call me weak? Damn you and your so called elders. I am going to show you that I am not weak, and you better have your eyes on me the whole time, as I put one of your top students flat to the ground." I spat out bitterly.
He looked at me and I could swear I saw a hint of a smile on his face. But I didn't care. He was amused at my rant, he didn't believe I could do it, and he thought it was funny? Oh no no no.
Just immediately, Meg, Wulf and Jody came out of the arena.
"JJ, it's almost time. Come on, let's get you ready." Jody said excitedly.
I glared at the headmaster one more time before followed them.
We entered a room just beside the arena.
After a painful long torture of trying different amour, we finally found the best.
~~~~~~~~
If I was expecting hugs and kisses from the three psychos, then I was in for a shock; because on reaching the arena door,they all turned to me, including the headmaster.
"Well, what are you waiting for? The field is yours." Jody said, and opened the door.
The chatter in the arena stopped. I walked in like a deer caught in a headlight.
Molly, was already on the fighting ground and looked ready to kill.
Then a mighty voice echoed around.
"A battle between Molly Madon, second in command of the L troop and student of unit five." Dean announced.
She is second in command to Ro? And she is in class five? How the hell was I supposed to beat her?
